Dear Donor,
Early reporting remains one of the most important principles of Ebola preparedness.
WHO continues to identify delayed detection as a challenge in the current outbreak. Delays can allow transmission to continue within households, communities and healthcare settings before appropriate measures are put in place.
Development Alert continues encouraging community members to take unusual or serious illness seriously and seek qualified medical assistance promptly.
We emphasize that reporting health concerns should not be associated with shame or stigma. People need to feel safe communicating with health workers.
Our community awareness activities therefore combine practical prevention information with messages that promote trust and cooperation.
When communities understand where to seek assistance and why early reporting matters, they can contribute meaningfully to outbreak detection.
Your support helps strengthen a culture of timely reporting, responsible healthcare seeking and community cooperation.
