Dear Donor,
The geographical scale of the Ebola outbreak makes it important to reach communities beyond major towns and established response centres.
The latest WHO information confirms that Ebola transmission has been reported across 63 health zones in seven provinces of the DRC. New and previously affected areas continue to require preparedness and surveillance.
Development Alert continues promoting community health awareness in settings where access to reliable information may be limited.
Our messages focus on early reporting, hygiene, responsible healthcare seeking and cooperation with health professionals.
Rural communities, transport communities, market communities and households all need understandable information about how to respond when concerning illness occurs.
Preparedness cannot depend solely on large health facilities. Community members must also understand their role in identifying concerns and communicating them appropriately.
Your continued support helps take lifesaving awareness closer to people who may otherwise be difficult to reach.
