NEELBAGH RURAL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL

In January 2017 the students of Neelbagh ushered in the New Year with a cultural program & bonfire  followed by   delicious lunch. This is the last quarter for the academic year 2016-2017 . The new academic year starts in mid May 2017. 

26^th January is celebrated as Republic Day all over India. This year the 68^th Republic Day was celebrated in New Delhi and the Chief Guest was the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This day  is celebrated to honor the Constitution of India and to highlight the fact that India became a Republic on this day in 1950.

To educate the students around the country this day is celebrated by hoisting the National Flag  and re telling the history of the country . Neelbagh School students also celebrated Republic Day with the Headmaster hoisting the flag and the children organizing a cultural program.

The monthly cultural and sports events were conducted as per schedule.

Academics:

The Class X students who will be graduating from School this year began a series of preparatory exams before their final Board exams which are due to start in March- April 2017.

The other classes  have also completed the final exams in March  and the  school has closed for the summer vacations. It will re-open on May 22^nd 2017.

Career Counseling was conducted for the Class X students- a group session where the students were encouraged to write down their areas of interest in the subjects they are studying, their aspirations in terms of college; subject choices and career options  as well.

The counselor also described in detail information about various graduate courses and technical training courses; providing them information on job opportunities and avenues open to them.

On the second day exit interviews were held during which  one on one counseling with each Class X student and their parent was done – an informative session where the students were encouraged to make decisions about college enrollment on the basis of their interest, ability, financial viability etc.

Two unique events this quarter  

i.  AWIM ( A World in Motion) National Olympics Competitions) finals were held in New Delhi ; 8 students from Neelbagh School accompanied by 2 teachers participated in the Skimmer and Jet Toy Challenge and performed remarkably well. The students made everyone proud and happy by winning 3 medals for the Skimmer event in three categories –best sportsmanship, maximum speed event and good grip in the language speaking category.

AWIM is a teacher administered, volunteer assisted program that brings STEM- science, technology, engineering and mathematics education to life.

GE  Corporate was the volunteer sponsor for this event.

This is the first time the students of Neelbagh are travelling out of the State for an event and experiencing the winter in Delhi.

ii.  The Karnataka State Govt. Education Department felicitated the two district level toppers of the Class X State Board exams held in April 2016. Divya and Ashwini from Neelbagh School received a trophy, certificate, wrist watch and Rs. 20,000/- .

Events:

Class X Valedictory 

As is the tradition at Neelbagh the Valedictory   program for the outgoing Class X students was held on 15^th March  2017 at the School. The Chief Guest this year was Sri. M- a philosopher  &  educationist. 

Sri. M runs an organization that provides free education and medical care to numerous  villages in Madanapalle which borders Neelbagh School.

Three of the Class X students spoke about their experiences studying in Neelbagh and how they appreciated the opportunities provided for all round development.

The program concluded with an excellent cultural program by the students followed by lunch. The parents of the class X students were also present for the function.

Eminence Foundation:

A team of volunteers, IT professionals spent three days at Neelbagh School interacting with the students and teachers and observing the daily routine; they also did a video shoot.

The team held a brief workshop for the teachers on the future  with digitization and explained how technology can  showcase Neelbagh School to the world.

                                         QUARTERLY REPORT OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2016

Neelbagh School was closed for the half yearly break  and for the Dussehra festival.  The school re opened on the 24^th o f October 2016 and  the students went back to their regular schedule.

The students celebrated Diwali- the festival of lights at the school. A special lunch was given to all the students and staff which included sweets as a special treat. The children also enjoyed a fire works display.

The monthly sports competitions and cultural and other activities continued as per schedule. The students played  kabaddi, throw ball, cricket and baseball and competitions between the houses were  conducted.

Skit, fancy dress and other activities were also conducted. Children’s Day was celebrated on November 14^{th 2016}.

The students are divided into 4 houses red, yellow, green and blue and all the monthly competitions are between the houses.

Sports- In the month of December 2016 GE conducted the Sports Meet for educational institutions at their Prabodhana GE Campus. Neelbagh students performed remarkably well and won the 1^st place in more than 16 events out of 20 events and also won the overall GE Team Championship award.

AWIM Regional Olympics- Ashraya Neelbagh School students came out as outstanding winners in the AWIM Regional Olympics  (A World in Motion-SAEINDIA ). The students won an entry in both Skimmer and Jet Toy,  two of our teams have qualified to go to Nationals (scheduled to take place during first week of January 2017 at New Delhi). In addition we also won a host of other individual events in both Jet toy and skimmer categories. The  Science Teacher  was recognized with Best Teacher Award and  the volunteer  from SKID was given the  Best Volunteer Award.

This is the third time Neelbagh school is participating and this year have qualified for the finals. Also, this year we created a perfect script and emerged as outstanding team in Skimmer where we won overall first place.

Best Teacher Award- Neelbgah School’s Headmaster received the Best High School Teacher Award from the Karnataka Education Department and was felicitated by numerous district level officials. He was  given a certificate and  trophy .

 Volunteers- From a  Bangalore based corporate  21 volunteers visited the school and spent the day with the students and staff. They shared information on numerous topics with the students- Health and hygiene, self defense for girls, career counseling, human values and ethics. They also taught the students dance and songs and everyone enjoyed the interaction. These experiences open the window to the outside world and give the students a wide exposure.
