ASHRAYA- NEELBAGH RURAL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL –KOLAR DISTRICT, KARNATAKA
Neelbagh Rural School re-opened after the summer break for the new academic year on 15th of May 2016.
The school strives for excellence in all activities be it academics, sports, cultural activities, vocational training and this is a result of the dynamic partnership of teachers, students, parents, donors and management.
The present total strength of the school for the academic year 2016-2017 is 418 of which 210 are boys and 208 girls. Of these 100 students are in the hostel: 50 girls and 50 boys. The number of staff serving in the school is 30 of which 19 are teaching staff and 11 are non-teaching staff.
This year the strength of each class was increased to 35 per class.
The students of Class X appear for Board exams every year in the month of March and the results this year were exceptional as has been for the last 8 years consecutively. AshrayaNeelbagh School students performed exceptionally well in their SSLC Examinations and bagged 100% results for the 8th consecutive year and fourth time in a row with 100% first class. While all the 30 scored above 60 % (first class) 12 students bagged Distinction. Divya scored 96.3% and was declared a district (Taluk) topper in Kannada medium SSLC board Examinations.
At the start of the new academic year all the new students are assigned their houses and activities like monthly competitions for sports, cultural and other events are started.
The drama ‘Health is Wealth’, folk songs, group dance and Kolata were conducted. Sports activities like kabaddi, throwball and games were also conducted.
The first of the local village level (Hobli) level sports competitions were held in Rayalpad and the Neelbagh students did exceptionally well . In the Primary and high school level they qualified to participate in the Taluk level in the following events: 100,200,400mts race, 400 mts relay, Shuttle cock, Cricket, basketball and Yoga.
At the Taluk level competitions the students won places to promote them to competing at the District level in the following events: 100,200,400mts race, Shuttle cock, Yoga –boys & girls.
In the month of August 2016 the students celebrated India’s Independence day on August 15th; after the flag hoisting there were cultural programmes and sweets distributed.
The school’s 21st Annual day was celebrated on the 13th of this month. Mrs. Uma Mahadevan I A S (Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development, Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Department-Govt of Karnataka )was the Chief Guest. The sports day, lunch, exhibitions and cultural programmes, went of very well. Many parents and visitors attended and enjoyed the function.
Spark of Joy season-2 was organized by Primavera- the CSR wing of Corporate BOSCH at Christ College Auditorium in Bangalore, the program gave an opportunity to the students of Neelbagh school to perform on a large platform in the presence of a large no of people. The students a group of 13 with a live singing accompaniment performed the Kamsale- a regional folk dance, which was appreciated by all.
September 5th is celebrated as Teacher’s day In India- the students of Neelbagh planned numerous cultural programs to entertain the teachers with and felicitated them as well.
GE Science Fair Championship program is an annual event organized by the GE Volunteers of the Bangalore Chapter titled Prabodhana – 15th Annual Science Fair at the GE India Technology Centre, Bangalore (GE ITC). Over 500 students from seventeen Government and twelve NGO funded schools displayed their working models on “Science evolution - envision the future”. Neelbagh students bagged the 1st place in two out of three events and won Overall team GE Championship award. (Skit 1st, Quiz 1st and Science evolution - envision the future modal 2nd prize).
