Thank You For An Amazing 2012!!!!!

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Supporter and Donor,

Thank you so much for your generous donation to Leadership Initiatives.

In the past year, Leadership Initiatives has instigated multiple programs, classes, and Microprojects that are making a difference in Nigeria. Leadership Initiatives started 9 businesses and 10 new projects. The businesses range from mechanics/car repair to irrigation farming.  There is also a wide variation of projects including bead making and carpentry; the goal is to improve all aspects of the Nigerian community and Leadership Initiatives has received a tremendous amount of support as we look for new ways to improve and further develop growing communities.

In addition to starting a wide variety of businesses and projects, Leadership Initiatives continued to ensure that the beneficiaries were taught the necessary skills to continue running businesses independently. Because of their newly acquired skills, the businesses run efficiently, providing a steady income for families. Because of LI intervention, children whose fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters are now employed can attend school, and have a chance for a brighter future

Leadership Initiatives has received help from generous donors, such as yourself, as well as additional help from Microsoft and A3 Foundation. LI would not have such success without benefactors. We would love to have you further involved with Leadership Initiatives.  If you ever wish to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate, have new ideas on how to develop our programs or skype with the people on the ground, please contact me at mbaily@leadershipinitiatives.org. If you wish to become a monthly donor, we offer a special program through GlobalGiving.

If you wish to learn more concerning the progress of Leadership Initiatives, you can subscribe to our newsletter or contact us directly.

Thank you again for your generosity. 2012 was a phenomenal year, and 2013 promises to be even greater.

Sincerely,

Marshall Bailly

Hadisu Fashion Project - Fully Funded

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives and Respective Donors,

Because of your generous donation, the skilled tailor, Abdulhadi Usman will be able to open up the Hadisu Fashion Shop. This fashion shop will provide affordable custom tailoring to the fast growing Dass region of Bauchi State Nigeria. With this project, Abdulhadi will be able to offer businessmen and women tailored suits and dresses, which are currently unavailable within her community. Through her vision, Abdulhadi will create five jobs in Dass as well as provide an alternative to individuals who have to travel long distances for professional tailoring. This change will allow local citizens to invest more money into their economy and generate individual incomes, which will ultimately improve the outlook of their community.

Our students create novel solutions firmly grounded in principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses in: fish farming, welding, tailoring, motorcycle repair & computer education with job placement. Currently, through creating the Hadisu Fashion Shop, there will be an increase of jobs for local tailors. It will provide the community with new tailoring services that include complex weaving and cloth making. This project targets youths between the ages 16-25. These individuals will be taught advanced business skills and new tailoring techniques, which entails training three times a week. Lastly, Leadership Initiatives will remain as a resource to teach these individuals new tailoring techniques, help them expand their business, and train new people to work within the tailoring shop.

Because of you and your generosity, we have been able to continue our efforts and develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.

Leadership Initiatives will be regularly providing updates and insight into these projects as the month's progress through GlobalGivings reporting program. Of course, at anytime you can request a project update to learn up to date info on how this project is progressing.

As a supporter of " Create 6 New Jobs with the Hadisu Fashion Project", Leadership Initiatives would love to have you involved if you ever want to help grow our programs, learn of ways you can participate or have new ideas on how to develop our programs please contact me at mbailly@leadershipinitiatives.org. Your hard work and intelligence is the greatest gift we could receive as we attempt to create a better world.

Thank you once again from the bottom of everyone's heart here at Leadership Initiatives. If you would ever like to speak to our staff on the ground, a project leader, one of our Business Alliance student participants, we would love to set up a Skype chat for you, so you can personally see the change you are creating.

Wishing you, your family and your friends the absolute best!

Sincerely,

Marshall

Expanded Fish-farming - Fully Funded

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives and Respective Donors,

Recently, Leadership Initiatives created its first fish-farming program in Birshi Nigeria. This program created jobs for ten subsistence farmers, and allowed them to save countless lives by offering affordable mudfish, which helps solve the vitamin B deficiency issue in the surrounding communities. Because of your generous donation, the Birshi Fish-farming group will now attempt to expand their program to new regions of their state saving lives, creating jobs and building community infrastructure by attacking malnutrition with affordable food. There has been erratic rainfall over the course of several years, which have left farmers with drastically reduced harvests. Many of the villagers in Birshi Nigeria are now suffering from malnutrition, which includes the previously mentioned severe vitamin B deficiencies. Additionally, village infrastructures have deteriorated due to a lack of resources with which to make repairs. The Birshi Fish Farming expansion project will replicate the success of Birshi by creating new fish farming in surrounding areas and by creating jobs.

Our students create novel solutions firmly grounded in principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses in: fish farming, welding, tailoring, motorcycle repair & computer education with job placement. Currently, through expanding Birshi Fish Farming, there will be an increase in an affordable source of Vitamin B to their region. This project will also create fifteen new jobs, which will teach the individuals new farming techniques. These techniques include utilizing used fish water and rain retention to rebuild their damaged farming areas. Furthermore, fish not large enough to sell will be distributed to the sick and the elderly, which will save more lives.
