As members of the International Business Internship Program, Ella, Casey, Ella, Linnae, Teya, and Josie work weekly to address issues that our business partner, Mr. Abdullahi, encounters in their everyday practices. We are working towards finding business solutions which will bring about benefits for both our business partner and the entire community.
Mr. Abdullahi has established his own cobbling business. Abdullahi with his team of four staff members and four apprentices are working to meet deadlines for local customers included the Nigerian military who are protecting the region from the terrorist group the Boko Haram. In order to further his business, Mr. Abdullahi needs to obtain more materials (i.e., sewing machines) in order for his company to produce shoes at a quicker rate.
The faster Mr. Abdullahi's shoes are made, the more money he can make at an efficient pace, therefore allowing him to purchase more materials and supplies to brand his shoes. In the end, receiving better materials to help him make shoes more quickly will help to publicize his business and make more money for his family and employees.
If Mr. Abdullahi's business grows and prospers with the help of these materials, he will be able to open up job opportunities to more residents in Bauchi State. This will improve the overall economic climate and quality of life for people in Mr. Abdullahi's community.
