Challenge

This program will create jobs for local tailors, targeting youth between the ages of 16-25, while providing the community with a new tailoring service for complex weaving and cloth making. This will allow men and women from the community to put money in the local economy. Tailors employed by this program will now be able to afford to send their children to school and with their earning attend university to pursue their dreams and hopefully create even more jobs within the community.

Solution

This microproject will give advanced business training to local tailors between while also outfitting them with the machines necessary to begin their new tailoring center. Leadership Initiatives will also remain as a resource to teach them new tailoring techniques, help them expand their business and train new people to work within the tailoring shop. Tailors will train three times a week on new techniques and demonstrate them to community officials to showcase their new business

Long-Term Impact

Develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.
