Currently, many of the subsistence farmers in Bauchi state depend on what they can grow for their diet- but with limited acreage, many are unable to have any meat or protein in their diet. This project will allow a locally-sourced protein that is affordable for the local population.
Currently, subsistence farmers are unable to get the necessary vitamins and nutrients with what they can grow themselves. This project will change that. More importantly the project will work to employ the children of subsistence farmers in heading and leading this next level of growth for their community. Because they already work on the farm and are young and have a desire to bring new farming techniques to their families they are uniquely suited to create this powerful change.
This project provides a balanced diet for the local population by creating a locally-sourced alternative that provides nutrients the local crops do not. This will also allow Sani Abdu, the owner of the fish farm to bring on new apprentices, offering local youths better economic opportunities.
Develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.
