Dear Donor,
Local leaders are among the most trusted voices during a health emergency.
With 7,475 confirmed DRC cases and 3,605 deaths recorded by 16 September, the need for credible community communication remains urgent.
Development Alert continues engaging local leaders in Ebola preparedness.
Leaders can help communities understand health guidance, counter rumors and encourage early reporting.
They can also help reduce stigma by reminding residents that illness is not a reason to blame or discriminate against families.
We encourage leaders to work closely with health authorities and communicate information responsibly.
Their role is particularly important in rural communities where access to formal information may be limited.
Trusted leadership can turn public-health guidance into practical community action.
