Dear Donor,
Distance can become a major challenge during a health emergency.
The latest ECDC update shows that Ebola transmission remains active across 62 health zones in seven provinces of the DRC, with 7,475 confirmed cases and 3,605 deaths reported through 16 September.
Development Alert continues emphasizing preparedness among rural communities that may face barriers to health information and services.
Our community outreach focuses on bringing awareness closer to households rather than expecting every family to travel long distances to receive information.
We engage local leaders, volunteers, schools and community groups.
We also support communication around early reporting and referral.
Our wider field logistics help facilitate outreach to areas where transportation challenges can delay activities.
Preparedness must reach the most remote households, not only major towns.
Every rural family reached with reliable health information represents another community better prepared to respond to an emergency.
