Dear Donor,
Community engagement remains one of the foundations of the Ebola response.
WHO has emphasized that the progress being made in the DRC is linked to the work of government authorities, health workers, WHO, Africa CDC and hundreds of partners, together with increased community engagement.
Development Alert continues supporting community-level awareness so that people understand how they can contribute to prevention and early detection.
Our messages emphasize practical actions rather than fear: maintain hygiene, report serious illness, cooperate with health teams, avoid stigmatizing affected families and seek professional medical advice.
The latest ECDC data recorded more than 7,400 confirmed cases in the DRC through 16 September, demonstrating the scale of the emergency even as some areas show encouraging signs of declining transmission.
Communities are not simply recipients of an Ebola response—they are essential partners in it.
