Scholarships to Live Dreams and Move Forward

Kato-san, The President of the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School, sends a video report of four of our second year scholarship students. Even though their graduation is not until next March, two have already received job offers, while the remaining two are working hard toward their own goals. Impressively, the two with confirmed job placements will be joining Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo and Hotel Okura—both prestigious establishments. We are very proud that once again, our students have secured positions at such outstanding hotels.

Kato-san explains they are currently in the process of selecting this year's first year scholarship recipients, and we expect to introduce the new scholars in our next report.   We have also increased the scholarship amount based on current financial situations.

Akane, Yuin, Honoka, and Reo English skills have improved immensely as they gain experience and interact with foreign visitors. Please enjoy the video:

2025 July Bonus Day campaign - July 16 - 17, 2025

 July Bonus Day is a 24-hour crowdfunding campaign which patially matches eligible donations between $100 and $1,000 so that each donation will receive a portion of the $125,000 Incentive Fund. The more we raise, the more incentive funds we unlock!

Please give anytime within the campaign period, starting on July 16, 2025, at 10:00AM EDT, and ending on July 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM EDT. All eligible donations will be matched!

Scholarship Students Report on their End of School Year Progess

Kato-san, The President of the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School, sends a video report of four of our scholarship students explaining where they are in their studies, internships and job searches. The school year has ended and we are pleased to have six Taylor scholarship students for the new school year.

Akane, Reo, Honoka, and Aoi English skills have improved immensely as they gain experience and interact with foreign visitors. The end of the video show their latest English competency test in a staged restaurant setting.

We now approach the one year anniversary of the Sendai YMCA’s new Taylor Anderson Reading Corner (Taylor bunko). The 33^rd Taylor Bunko was dedicated on March 15^th when Endo-san presented Kato-san with a voucher for books and the bookshelves. The bunko compliments the English studies standards of the program which are useful in the tourism industry the students will enter.

2025 Little by Little Campaign

The 2025 Little by Little Campaign is a four-day crowdfunding campaign from March 25-28 designed to help GlobalGiving partners worldwide cultivate a robust network of small-dollar donors.

All eligible donations up to $50 per unique donor per organization will be matched at 50% during the campaign until funds run out. GlobalGiving’s 2025 Little by Little campaign will begin on March 25, 2025, at 00:00:00 EDT and will end when matching funds of $125,000 run out, or on March 28, 2025, at 23:59:59 EDT, whichever comes first.

Many of the students need scholarships to attend the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School because of economic hardships, some caused by the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.  The Sendai YMCA and TAMF provide these scholarships jointly.
