In order to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a pastry chef, I’m currently working at a cake shop while attending school.
Making cakes is, of course, fun. I am very happy that I can see my customer’s smile while waiting for customers.
From Yui
Hello. I am Yui. I'm a second grade student at Sendai YMCA International Hotel Confectionery College.
I'm from Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. I was in the tennis club when I was in junior high school, and in the tea ceremony club when I was in high school. I have a younger sister.
And I have one dog. My dog is a mixed breed dog and very cute. My favorite Japanese food is sushi. Please eat sushi when you come to Japan. My hobbies are cooking and taking pictures. Recently, my mother taught me how to make delicious simmered dishes. I work part-time as a bell staff at a hotel in Sendai.
I can't work now because of the coronavirus, but it's a fun job.
I'm studying everyday to become a wonderful hotelier in the future. Now I'm working hard on job hunting.
I'm studying English so that I can become a hotelier who can bring joy to overseas customers. So I will try TOEIC in a few months.
Also, next summer, with the support of the school, I am working on a short-term study abroad program in Washington. I am also interested in alcohol. I want to have a lot of knowledge about alcohol and play an active role as a sommelier. When I'm 20 years old and can drink alcohol, I want to find my favorite alcohol.
I want to have a good time with everyone at school this year. I will send you a letter!
From Shino
Hello. I'm Shino. I became a sophomore in April.
In the second year, new classes have increased. They are Chinese and French classes. I’m interested in foreign languages and culture, so I’m happy that language classes were added. I’m sad that there is no English class, but I want to learn the language while enjoying the class.
In the confectionery class, we will continue to practice Japanese confectionery, bread, and western confectionery. I am sending a picture of a sweet that I made in class. I sent it to my parents. My sister, who lives alone in Sendai, also came to eat. I’m so happy to hear that it was delicious.
I will continue to work hard for the rest of my school life, without forgetting to appreciate that I am continuing to study thanks to you and many other people. Thank you very much.
From Akiho
I am Akiho. I’m 18 years old.
I'm from Iwate prefecture. Iwate Prefecture is famous for three major noodles:
“jajamen”, “Morioka Reimen”, and “wankosoba”.
My hobby is listening to music.
There are 4 members in my family: father, mother, grandmother, and brother. I went to the Iwate Prefectural Senmaya High School and belonged to the singing section of our music club.
At the time of the earthquake, I was in the third grade of elementary school. I was absent from school because I was sick when the earthquake came. I just fled out of the house and watched the objects in our house fell down. At that time there was not only me but also my mother. I wouldn't have done anything without my mother. After the earthquake subsided, I went to pick up my junior high school brother and clean our house. At night, we listened to the radio and endured the aftershocks and slept in the tea room together. It was a day when I realized that it was not normal. I was scared and I cannot forget that, never.
I entered this school with the aim of becoming a hotelier. Although it is a short time of two years, I want to learn a lot about the hotel industry and grow as a person to become a first-class hotel person.
