THANKS YOU FOR THE "SOUND GIFT"

By Gabriela Mejia | Project Leader

THANK YOU FOR THE "SOUND GIFT"

Thanks to the support of THE AMERICAN SOCIETY, the second phase of examinations was carried out for the children who were examined in the tour to La Pintada and that they required a second evaluation in our clinic.

This second phase is important to be able to perform additional auditory tests that allow us to diagnose or rule out, hearing loss in children who did not pass the auditory screening on the field tour.

This time two small children were detected with hearing loss, diagnosing the need to use hearing aids to be able to listen.

THE AMERICAN SOCIETY on this occasion supported so that both children could have the SOUND GIFT, their hearing aids !!!

FIRST SILENT WALK…. WAO!!!!

On Sunday, June 11, we held our "1st Silent Walk", which was held at Cerro Ancón starting at 8:00 am. It was a totally free event in which we share with families and enjoy only the sounds of nature.  Participants were made aware of the importance of silence to the ears.  It was a beautiful morning!!!!

A DREAM MADE REALITY: "CONOCIENDO A LORENZO"

This August 15th we will launch the "Conociendo a Lorenzo" storybook, which will educate and raise awareness about aspects related to hearing impairment. It also discusses the problems that children with hearing loss and their parents have on a daily basis.

Did you know that ... the average age at which hearing loss is detected when neonatal hearing screening is not done is: At 2 years and a half for deep losses and at 8 years for slight or unitaleral losses.
