It's that time again when we reach out to let you know how you've helped our cause with your gracious donations! Things are busier than ever here at East Mississippi Animal Rescue. There are so many animals who need our help and it feels as if we'll never be able to help those who need it. Thank you, time and again, for allowing us to do what we do. Today, we want to tell you about Bella, a Beagle, who recently came into our care.
"I was driving in town along a busy street when I spotted a pitiful-looking dog lying on the ground near a lamp post", Paula Joyner says. "It was so hot. She looked out-of-it and very confused." The dog appeared to need help and she needed it soon. Not willing to leave the dog alone and in poor condition, Paula brought her back to the rescue. It was soon discovered that the dog was wearing a collar with a nametag. We were able to get in touch with the owner who agreed to pick her up the next week. Bella had been their hunting dog. That next week came and no one ever showed to take Bella home. She was abandoned and lef in the care of EMAR.
Bella has received a lot of veterinary care since coming to the rescue. She came in with two mammary tumors; one has been removed and one is scheduled to be removed next week. Bella has been spayed and has also been tested for heartworms, which luckily came back negative. She also has some ear issues that we are working with the vet to resolve.
Thanks to your support and donations, Bella is on her way to getting better. Due to her age of 10 years, we are hoping that once she gets well, she can be transferred to a special rescue for older dogs. We hope she will be able to find a home where she will be treasured and loved.
