Help Get CJ to New Jersey

By Kasey Garrett | Project Leader

CJ
CJ

At EMAR we try to do everything within our power to help rehabilitate and rehome all of the dogs in our care.

A year ago, we took in a dog that unfortunately needs more specialized care than what we are able to offer him. We have tried everything that we can to try and bring him around, but we just haven't had much success. CJ is a very scared dog. He is absolutely terrified of humans, especially hands. We don't know his history or why he's so scared, but we suspect he was abused at some point. He is not considered adoptable at this time because of his severe fear. We cannot take him to adoption events, or even allow people to visit him because sometimes it's impossible to get him on a leash or out of his cage. He tries to hide under his Kuranda bed, or backs up into the corner like he's trying to disappear.

Luckily, CJ has been accepted into a special program in New Jersey. They have had lots of success getting dogs like CJ into a position to be more adoptable. We hope that they will be able to do what we weren't able to.

With the help of your donations, CJ was able to receive treatment for heartworms. He has been recovering for the last 6 months and has finally tested negative! He is now medically cleared to start the program! But because of his extreme fear, it's not safe to put him on a transport truck with people he is unfamiliar with. The only option is for a volunteer to drive him there for us.

We need to raise money to get CJ to New Jersey. Driving him from Mississippi is a 16 hour drive (1,089 miles) plus a night in a hotel. The total trip will cost approximately $500. We know that CJ deserves the help that the Rehabilitation Center can give him, but we need your help to get him there. Any donation, big or small, will make a big impact on this sweet boy's life and the new start that he needs. Thank you for your help in his journey so far!
