Setting new goals for 2012

By Claire Slesinski | IMIFAP GlobalGiving Coordinator

Some of our program participants
Some of our program participants

For this report, we are taking a moment to look back on all that we have accomplished in collaboration with our program participants during the last two years, and to reflect on our goals for the future.

From 2010 to 2012, IMIFAP – Yo quiero, yo puedo has touched the lives 1,072 direct program beneficiaries, the majority of them women, through the process of utilizing microloans to create small businesses in towns and communities in the Mexican States of Oaxaca, Michoacán, Hidalgo, and Puebla.

Our microfinance department has created some new goals for this area of our work, including:

  • Give 60 “I want to, I can… save and start my business” workshops
  • Give 5 “I want to, I can… create partnerships to be more productive” workshops
  • Help program participants in Hidalgo to create 20 business plans
  • Put on 2 marketing fairs in Hidalgo
  • Help to finance a chicken breeding project in the Mixteca region, a textile mill in Michoacán, and expand a bag-making workshop in Puebla
  • Continue to promote and market Tía Lore products (chocolate and guava jam)

As we look back and see how far we’ve come, we eagerly anticipate going even further and empowering many more women to become agents of change in Oaxaca, Michoacán, Hidalgo, and Puebla. As our microfinance and productivity programs grow and become an even bigger portion of the work that we do, we communicate our deepest thanks to all of our GlobalGiving donors who have helped us to make it all possible.

We only have $3,500 USD left to raise for this program; please help us reach our fundraising goal of $20,000 USD!

______________________________________________________

  • Impartir  60 talleres “Yo quiero, yo puedo… ahorrar y empezar mi negocio”.
