Project Report | Dec 19, 2011
New Beginnings for Women in Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo

By Claire Slesinski | Project Coordinator

Group of women planning to open rental business
Group of women planning to open rental business

Adanelli Santana, the coordinator of our microfinance and microenterprise programs, accompanied a representative of one of our funders on a visit to Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo. There, they visited the community banks and small businesses that have been established through our collaboration with local residents.

A group of women that belong to a bank called Banco Mi Banquito currently run a small embroidered textile business. However, many community members also make embroidered textiles and sell their products in the same areas. Therefore, the women are hoping to launch a new business renting tables and chairs for events. The town has many festivals and holiday events, so this service is sorely needed. Soon, the group of women will lay out a plan for starting their business, including developing their business idea, figuring out their costs, seeking out clients, and determining the amount of financing they will require to start the business.

Please consider making a donation to IMIFAP - Yo quiero, yo puedo’s microenterprise programs. Your support will help us to continue to provide resources and training to women who want to start and run small businesses, like the group of women starting a rental business in Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo.
