This is the final report from Licorice. We have spent many years struggling to make hospitals to be friendlier and more pleasant places to stay. We focused on listening end encouraging its patients to find strength and faith to get better or we were helping them to face unavoidable conserveness of being ill or getting old. We were also visiting children hoping to bring them some magical moments during their uneasy situations. We also provided our help to hospital staff, who always needs to find a new reason why to do their difficult duties. At last we were here also for relatives of the patients because they suffered too, although in different way.
We organised workshops, performances, St Nicolaus day events, Christmas and Easter events, always having a moment of smile, moment of relief as our main goal. We were trading our own free time for moments of happiness and hope and we did it with love.
As a chairman who is now standing in front of the task to put our activities down for reasons I will briefly explain below, I am deeply honour and unspeakably proud on all my colleagues who were doing so great so far. The reason why do we have to put to rest our projects is that we feel that our NGO fulfilled its potential and we got to the point we need to move forward separately. We left three working volunteering programmes, dozens of volunteers and couple of reliable and responsible coordinators. These people are going to continue in their work in separate hospital volunteering programmes and they are “grown enough” to govern their own destiny without our supervision. We can hardly imagine greater goal that we could achieve.
Finally, I would like to thank to all my colleagues again and express how do I admire them. I shall always remember that for a short time I had the honour to be the chairman of our Licorice. I spend couple years as a volunteer myself and if I was half as good as my colleagues then I did my work excellently. Great thanks belong the “mother founders” five women that had enough courage and love in their hearts to build amazing foundations for the NGO to stand on. At the very end of this report I would like to thank to all our supporters, it was thanks to your help that we could achieve the top of the hill and see the beautiful horizon. Thank you very much you did as well as we did, and we shall never forget this to you. Thank you all “Global giving” people. :)
