YOU are saving lives!
Children who do not get the nutrition they need suffer from stunted growth and learning problems. Many children die of malnourishment before they are even old enough to attend school.
The gifts YOU have made to Nyaka are providing life-saving meals to YOUR students. YOU are providing 4,630 meals to your primary students a week! On top of that, YOU are also feeding 187 secondary and vocational students!
These meals are a vital part of Nyaka's Nutrition Program and there are so many other ways YOU are making a difference for YOUR students today and for their futures. We made a special video all about the amazing ways YOU are impacting the lives of YOUR children in Uganda.

Want to see YOUR gift go further this year?
Make a donation during the month of December to this project and YOU can help YOUR Nyaka students win one of 9 prizes! YOU could win up to $3,000 for YOUR children! All you have to do is make a gift to this project before midnight on December 31st! If Nyaka is one of the top 9 projects with the most money raised, YOUR children will WIN!

Sarah lost both parents to HIV/AIDS when she was very young.
Fortunately her grandparents were able to keep her in school. Sarah dreamed of going to university so she could become a lawyer. She worked hard and made it to her Senior Four year only to find that her grandparents could no longer raise enough money for her school fees.
Sarah’s dreams would have been over like so many other children if it had not been for YOU.
YOU saw Sarah's potential. YOU pledged to give her the opportunity to reach her dreams.
Now she is in her final year of school and she is applying to universities. YOUR love and support has given her the opportunity to show how smart and talented she is.
Sarah is so grateful for the precious gift YOU have given her but we know, for every story like Sarah's, there are many more children who are dropping out of school because they can no longer afford it.
YOUR continued support means that these children will have the chance to reach their dreams just like Sarah.
Thank you!

YOU are a champion for children!
When Nyaka first opened its doors, we gathered all of the important things for a great school. We had pencils and paper, passionate teachers, textbooks, uniforms, everything we thought we would need.
Everything seemed to be going great until we realized we had one very big problem.
Our students couldn't stay awake.
We had students excited to learn but they were falling asleep at their desks, unable to absorb the vital information that would help them escape poverty.
Nyaka was missing one essential ingredient--healthy food.
Many of our students are being cared for by their grandmothers who can offer love and shelter but cannot afford to feed all of their grandchildren. Some grandmothers are raising more than 12 grandchildren!
Because of YOUR support, we were able to quickly to solve the problem. YOU started providing two meals for YOUR students every school day. YOU started Desire Farm to grow food and raise animals to keep our students fueled and ready to learn! YOU even provided gardening tools, seeds, and training for their grandmothers to ensure that they could keep their grandchildren fed!
Right now there are 463 primary students who are receiving two meals per day through the nutrition program YOU made possible. Now your students have beans, peas, groundnuts, meat, posho, vegetables, rice, matooke (green bananas), sweet potatoes and Irish potatoes to keep them healthy and full of precious energy!
If that wasn't enough, YOUR students now have 200 chickens to provide eggs!
YOU make all of this possible.
Thank YOU!

Take a second to look at the beautiful pictures of YOUR Secondary and Vocational School under construction!
The progress is coming along because of YOUR help! It is scheduled to open February 9th, 2015! That’s only a few short months away!
The first class of students will enter those doors to begin their very first day of secondary school. With butterflies in their stomachs, they will walk to their very first class to meet new teachers, make new friends, and continue their journeys to bright futures!
For the people of the community watching these buildings rise into the air, it's a miracle! This school teaches them to hope that one day every child in their community will be able to taste the dream of opportunity. Every child will be able to stand tall with a pencil in their hands and lead their community out of poverty.
YOU are not just building a school. YOU are building futures one brick at a time.
We still have a lot of work yet to do before the school is complete—windows need to be put in, floors need to be finished, the dormitories are still incomplete—but we have faith that YOUR love will open our doors!
February 9th, 2015 is coming quickly. We hope that YOU will continue to support your children as we work towards this important date.
Here are a couple ways YOU can help us get there!

Imagine that you are a child—almost too young to keep memories—and one day your father, who has been sick your entire life, is gone. You never knew your mother but you know the same illness also took her away.
At the funeral, as you hold your younger sister’s hand, you hear the whispers. Slim. You don’t know what the word means but even your young ears can tell that it means something very bad.
What you know for certain is that now you and your sister are completely alone.
This is the memory that Ronald has of his early life after his parents passed away from HIV/ADS. His story begins very similar to the story of many children in Uganda. Luckily for Ronald and his little sister, Gloria, two amazing things happened to them.
The first was that their grandmother learned about her son’s death. They lived far away from but, as soon as she heard that her grandchildren needed her, she made the long journey to rescue them and bring them back to her home.
The second occurred shortly after. Although their grandmother loved them deeply and cared for them as well as she could, she could not afford to send them to school. Then The Nyaka Primary School opened in their village of Nyakagyezi. Ronald and Gloria were among the first students to attend.
They were given free education, uniforms (with shoes!), healthcare, and nutritious meals!
Because of YOU, Ronald and Gloria are now both in secondary school. In just a couple years, they will both be attending university and they will be able to repay their grandmother for the hard work and sacrifices she made while raising them. Ronald wants to be a teacher and his sister, Gloria, wants to be a lawyer. Thanks to YOU, they have the opportunity!
There are so many children whose stories YOU are changing every day. Precious little lives that would otherwise be trapped in a lifetime of poverty, unable to share their gifts and talents with the world.
Thank YOU for giving them this chance!
YOUR children are celebrating today because YOUR support during the last Global Giving Match Day raised $977! That’s Amazing! That will send 4 primary school children to school for a year!
August Challenge!
If you didn’t give to Nyaka during the last two Bonus Days (or if you want to see more lives changed), YOU have the opportunity to make your gift go further this August! If you make a new, recurring gift to Nyaka at some time during the entire month of August, YOU could help YOUR children win $1,000 from Global Giving!
If we raise $2,000 in recurring donation funds for August, Global Giving will award us $1,000!
There are just a couple rules to remember:
If we don’t make our goal of $2,000 in recurring gifts, we will miss out on the $1,000 prize! Please give starting at 9:00am (EST) on August 1st!
