Nyaka provides free, high-quality education for over 800 orphaned and vulnerable children through two primary schools and one secondary & vocational school in rural southwest Uganda. Your donation provides clean drinking water, nutritious meals, tuition, medicine and school supplies. For two decades, Nyaka has been a beacon of hope, empowering students through education and holistic support to complete their education so that they can secure employment and rise above poverty.
Nyaka works with communities living in poverty in southwest Uganda- where many families are subsistence farmers living on $1-2 per day. Many orphaned, abandoned, or vulnerable children are left in the care of struggling grandmothers. We work holistically to provide health, education, and income-generating programs to empower grandmothers to start small businesses, access medical care, access micro-loans and education, access, provide training in business knowledge and vocational skills.
Quality education is key to a brighter future and essential to increased health, income generation, opportunity and choice. Your donation helps more than 800 orphaned or vulnerable children to access classroom supplies, library books, uniforms, nutritious food, clean water, medical care- as well as high quality tuition, extracurricular activities, counseling and other support.
Early cohorts of Nyaka students have now graduated and gone on to study at universities in Uganda and across the world. Through your support, these students have not only received an education but have been empowered to become productive citizens in their families and communities. Today they stand as journalists, doctors, and lawyers c supporting their communities and making the world a better place!
