February 9th, 2015 was a historic day in southwest Uganda!

That was the day that YOUR Nyaka Vocational Secondary School opened! 50 students from YOUR Nyaka and Kutamba Primary Schools have started their first year of secondary school.

YOUR school will grow every year until it reaches its full capacity of 600 students! That will almost double the total number of students YOU educated in 2014!

In order to fill YOUR school, Nyaka needs to finish building the entire school campus, which includes all 4 of the lab buildings and your boys dormitory. We know YOUR love and compassion will help us reach this goal!

We are sending you some beautiful pictures from YOUR opening day of school. We hope they fill YOU with pride and joy!

Last year YOU gave 650 students free education, healthcare, meals, shoes, school uniforms, and school supplies.

We want you to know that YOUR hard work is paying off! Every year your Primary 7 class is required to take the big Primary Leaving Exam. This test has the power to decide their entire future. It will determine if they will be accepted into the secondary school or vocational school of their choice. Students who do not score high enough are often forced to go to a school that provides a poorer quality of education or they may have to seek out an apprenticeship rather than attending a formalized vocational school.

This year, 87% of your Primary 7 students received a B+ or higher and ALL of YOUR students passed!

Thanks to your new Nyaka Vocational Secondary School, ALL of your Primary 7 students will be given high quality education when their new school opens on February 9th!

YOUR support is the reason these children have a chance at a happy, vibrant future that many children are not so blessed to have.

The more YOU help, the less likely these children will be trapped in poverty, unable to fulfill their dreams.  Because of YOU they will not miss out on valuable education. Even though we are opening the Secondary School, we still have a lot of construction to do before it is completed! If you want to help us ensure that this class and all of YOUR future students have the opportunity to get a high quality education, please consider giving to our new project on global giving, Build A School for HIV/AIDS Orphans in Uganda.

YOUR support this year has given all of your 650 children exactly what they need to reach their dreams.

YOU have given them free education, meals, healthcare, shoes, school uniforms, and school supplies. These are things that we may take for granted, but without these vital resources, YOUR students couldn't go to school.

Over this past year, YOU have helped Nyaka reach more students than ever before. YOU have built a new secondary and vocational school and YOU will be sending your first class of students to university in the fall.

If YOU had not stepped in, they would be trapped in poverty and even their children would be more likely to stay in poverty. They would be more vulnerable to predators and HIV/AIDS. YOUR girls would be more likely to marry or have children before they're ready.

YOUR generosity has changed the course of their lives. Because of YOU, they will be leaders in their communities when they grow up. They will be doctors, lawyers, politicians, business leaders...the possibilities are endless!

I hope YOU feel the profound magnitude of the gift YOU have given this year.

YOUR children wish you very Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year!

There's still time to make a gift before the end of the year!

Make a donation during the month of December to this project and YOU can help YOUR Nyaka students win one of 9 prizes! YOU could win up to $3,000 for YOUR children!

All YOU have to do is make a gift to this project before Midnight on December 31st! If Nyaka is one of the top 9 projects that raises the most money, YOUR children will WIN!

Congratulations!

YOUR support this year has made another Nyaka graduation possible!

Please join us in celebrating YOUR 7th Nyaka Graduation!

Because of YOU, 52 primary students are headed off to secondary school.

Because of YOUR support, 14 students will be applying to University in the fall and 6 students will be leaving vocational school to start their jobs!

All of YOUR children benefit from every year of school you give them. Even if they hadn't graduated, every year of school YOU have given them means they would have 10% higher wages in their lifetime.

But YOU gave them something better than a better wage. YOU gave them a chance to reach their dreams. The life-saving support YOU provided helped them get their diplomas.

They fought against all odds to get to where they are and YOU helped them do it!

Next year we have two exciting firsts to look forward to.

Your 52 children who graduated from Nyaka and Kutamba Primary Schools will be the first class to attend the Nyaka secondary and Vocatioanl School when it opens in February 2015.
Your 14 senior six students and 6 vocational students who graduated this year are all part of the original pioneer students who attended Nyaka Primary School when it first opened. They are the first class of YOUR pioneer students to graudate from High School!

Over the next year YOUR graduated vocational students will be finding employment and many of YOUR graduated secondary students will be applying to continue their education at University!

Thank YOU for making this historic graduation possible!

YOU are saving lives!

Children who do not get the nutrition they need suffer from stunted growth and learning problems. Many children die of malnourishment before they are even old enough to attend school.

The gifts YOU have made to Nyaka are providing life-saving meals to YOUR students. YOU are providing 4,630 meals to your primary students a week! On top of that, YOU are also feeding 187 secondary and vocational students!

These meals are a vital part of Nyaka's Nutrition Program and there are so many other ways YOU are making a difference for YOUR students today and for their futures. We made a special video all about the amazing ways YOU are impacting the lives of YOUR children in Uganda.
