English Version below

Working from the community for a better future

Raising awareness and educating about inclusion is still the most important thing to  improve the quality of life of people with Down  and as off the past 3 months we've started a new project with the community. Many of our activities have taken place in vulnerable neighborhoods in Barranquilla city, were the number of people with disability is high. Our mission: make their environment more suitable, so they can actively participate in their community.

We've been working directly with 25 families in different neighborhoods such as: Las Nieves, La Luz, Nueva Colombia; el Valle, La Ceiba, 7 de Agosto and others located in the south east and west. We have developed awareness sessions and intervention plans to improve family dynamics, health and education actual situations.

We organized training sessions for 50 teachers and 200 students of educational institutions and more than 250 early attention agents of different childcare centers of the city benefited from our conferences.

See firsthand the double vulnerability: disability-poverty of these families has helped us to confirm the importance of our cause; we need an informed community that provides opportunities and recognize and respect the rights of those who have a disability.

On Wednesday September 16 Global Giving will provide additional 30% of the value of donations received, a good opportunity to increase the impact and follow supported this cause.

Please make your donation and tell your friends so we can continue to transform the future of persons with Dow syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
