While the active participation of individuals with Down syndrome in our community is increasing, they still face stigmatization and social undervaluation despite advancements in diversity discourse. Persistent negative cultural myths and paradigms contribute to discriminatory behaviors that hinder their full and equitable participation in society.
People with Down syndrome require varying levels of support throughout their lives, and at FUNDOWN CARIBE , we provide guidance and training to their families, educators, and other professionals to facilitate educational and social inclusion. We recognize the importance of civil society in driving the transformation towards more inclusive environments. Therefore, we focus significant efforts on awareness, aiming to overcome stereotypes and eradicate discrimination.
