Make a monthly recurring donation to your favorite project and get your donation matched! For example, if you set up a new $25 monthly recurring donation, we'll donate an additional $25 to the project.

Girls everywhere are facing immense challenges

Gender inequalities are still deeply rooted in every society. Many women and girls still lack access to employment opportunities, basic education, and healthcare, and are often subjected to violence and discrimination.

Everyone benefits when we invest in girls

The math is simple: in countries where there's higher gender equality, there's less poverty, more economic growth, and a higher standard of living. We must improve opportunities for everyone by dismantling barriers to women's and girls' participation in economic, social, and political life.

Help Women in Kenya Confront Climate Change

In Kenya, severe and frequent drought triggered by climate change is devastating rural families. People whose livelihoods depend on the land are left with nothing as their animals perish and their crops wither away. Families are going hungry. MADRE and the Indigenous Information Network are training Indigenous women to confront the impacts of climate change by conserving resources and adapting local ways of life.

Empower 2500 girls in Tanzania: Sew self made pads

The project aims at teaching 2500 girls from rural areas in Tanzania how to make their own reusable sanitary pads using locally available materials. The project will provide girls with a sustainable, affordable, and eco-friendly alternative to disposable menstrual products. On top of that, it will not only help girls in managing their periods with dignity, but also educate them about sustainability, health, and hygiene, and encourage them to take responsibility for their own well-being.

PadsForPeace

Since April 15th, the war in Sudan has claimed thousands of lives and millions of women and girls are at immediate risk of sexual violence, as their bodies are being used as a war tactic. Millions have been displaced from their homes and many struggle to meet basic needs. Running water, electricity, and medical services/products are often unavailable. Sudan is not receiving sufficient resources to confront this crisis. In this context, menstrual hygiene products are nearly impossible to come by.

Help Boys Thrive: Ignite Hope

Boys are like mirrors, and their lives reflect the world which we adults have created for them. There is the need to view boys as assets and resources, not as problems or liabilities. Our collective support is needed to cultivate them into becoming valuable, healthy, and thriving members of society. For us to promote and achieve gender equality, ensure the protection of women and girls and end gender-based violence and harmful practices, rigorous training and mentorship of boys and men is vital.

How our community selects nonprofits for the Girl Fund

GlobalGiving selected winners for the Girl Fund based on a holistic approach, ensuring that grantees addressed a wide range of issues impacting girls and gender-diverse individuals. We focused on initiatives that promote bodily autonomy, gender equality, and gender expansion, while also considering the intersection of gender with climate change, disaster response, and peacebuilding.
Geographically, we prioritized organizations that are both locally rooted and globally relevant, ensuring diverse representation across regions. The demographic focus was inclusive of women, girls, boys, and LGBTQIA+ communities, with a particular emphasis on supporting underserved groups.

To join the GlobalGiving Girl Fund as a monthly donor, enter the monthly amount you would like to give in the box at the top of the page. Then click the orange “DONATE” button and complete your transaction on our checkout page. In order to complete your monthly donation, you’ll need to enter a password to create an account on GlobalGiving, which will allow you to manage your Girl Fund giving and track your donations. You can pay for your monthly donation with a credit card (including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), PayPal, or ApplePay.

How can my favorite nonprofit join the GlobalGiving Girl Fund?
The first step is for the organization to submit an application to join GlobalGiving. When will I be charged for my monthly donation?
Once you complete your transaction, your card will be charged this amount immediately, and then will automatically be charged the same amount on the same day of each month going forward. For instance, if you set up your monthly donation on January 20th, then all future donations will post to your credit card on the 20th of each subsequent month until you cancel your monthly donation.
