Ipas Latin America and the Caribbean (Ipas LAC) collaborates with federal, state, and local organizations and institutions to support migrant women with vital reproductive health resources. Together, we've created "Te Acompano," the first Spanish-language chatbot specifically for migrants. This innovative platform provides reliable, private and accessible information on sexual violence, reproductive rights, abortion access, and how to find local services and support.
Women migrants have acute reproductive health needs when in transit, yet don't know how to access care. Every year, 25 million migrants from Latin America and the Caribbean-almost half of them women-face violence, including sexual and gender-based violence, compounded by barriers like language, discrimination, and lack of knowledge of how to access health services.
Te Acompano revolutionizes access to reproductive health care for migrant women in Mexico by breaking down barriers to information. This AI-powered chatbot provides 24/7 confidential and user-friendly information in Spanish, ensuring women receive the support they need anytime, anywhere. Migrants can access the chatbot for free via mobile phone or computer, with their privacy and anonymity always maintained.
With your support we will expand coverage to new states, including Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco and other key regions alongside the migration route; introduce new languages to support non-Spanish-speaking migrants; amplify awareness of the chatbot through digital campaigns and local outreach, reaching thousands of migrant women. Together, we can transform how migrant women access reproductive health, ensuring they have the tools to make informed and safe decisions.
