Boys are like mirrors, and their lives reflect the world which we adults have created for them. There is the need to view boys as assets and resources, not as problems or liabilities. Our collective support is needed to cultivate them into becoming valuable, healthy, and thriving members of society. For us to promote and achieve gender equality, ensure the protection of women and girls and end gender-based violence and harmful practices, rigorous training and mentorship of boys and men is vital.
The boy crisis is worldwide. A lack of positive mentorship fuels the crisis into a shocking negative masculinity experience. Boys are confronted with the question of where they are heading in life and what they can do about it. Becoming a man begins to create some crisis and confusion for them.The supreme test of any civilization today is whether or not it can cultivate boys to become healthy, caring, respectful and achieve responsible manhood.
Establishment of Being A Man community centres for continuous promotion of positive masculinity. These are spaces created for the mentorship of boys at community level. Men within the community are trained to facilitate 9 month life impact mentorship program to cultivate adolescent and teenage boys with the tools to help them discover their purpose in life, help them navigate the process of becoming a man and empowered adult males who will Love, Inspire, Value and Educate others.
If boys do not learn, men will not know. When boys receive positive mentorship and psychological nourishment 98% stay in school, 98% do not become teen parents, 85% do not use drugs and 98% avoid gang participation. The greatness or failure of the next generation of men depends on how we cultivate the young boy we have with us today. Mentoring is the highest form of education. When we mentor a boy, we educate GENERATIONS.
