Dear Donor,
A significant new development occurred on 19 September when DRC began vaccinating frontline healthcare workers in Bunia using Ervebo. The campaign is prioritizing workers who face high exposure during the response.
Because the current outbreak is caused by Bundibugyo virus, WHO stresses that Ervebo's effectiveness against this strain remains uncertain and its use against Bundibugyo should occur within research protocols.
Development Alert continues promoting accurate information about these developments and encouraging communities to follow guidance from qualified health authorities.
Protecting healthcare workers is essential because they remain central to surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, contact tracing and infection prevention.
Every protected frontline worker strengthens the wider response.
