Advanced program students started their research activities in July 2020. This research is the main program for advanced students and focuses on organic farming. Even though joined TLF in pandemic Covid 19, they are very excited as this is their first time to conduct the field research. Each student is assigned to pick one of the main research-focus such as planting spacing, pests and diseases, planting productivity, and fertilizer. They began the research activity with cultivating their beds, plotting the research area with numbers, and updating weekly progress with presentation. Several vegetables which planted including chili, tomato, melon, rice, eggplants etc.

In this batch, we also have four students who came from West Papua after passing several batch without any students from Papua area. We also encourage one of Papua students who have a desire to plant with different systems that is dutch bucket hydroponic system organically. Checking the quality of nutrient water for the hydroponics system has become a routine activity for him. He is very happy because the plants he planted grow better than the plants planted in the ground. He also plans to plant with hydroponic system in Papua.

The main program activity in the Advanced program is field research. For the all advanced students, they also have a competency to make a final report especially writing the daily journals and week’s progress. They are expected to complete their research and presenting the result by the end of December 2020.
