Dear Kind Hearts
Greetings from team SANKALP
We’ve come to the last fortnight of 2021. The world is still grappling with yet another variant of COVID-19. We hope that all of YOU, our well-wishers and our strength are safe and healthy. We’re grateful to each one of you who, have helped us to continue our efforts in supporting the community of children with developmental challenges in Vadodara, India.
This pandemic has caused many of our children’s families to go through very difficult times as many of them have lost their livelihood. We have been quite proactive with all our children and their families and despite lockdown we’re helping not only these children to deal with the consequences of forced restrictions but have also been supporting their families by giving them ration kits regularly. Parents are being called at the Centre and also given vitamins n medicines for giving to their children.
As mentioned in our previous report, the Centre is still not opened for normal activities as per the government advice. Sankalp’s teachers, therapists and entire team have been very active and sincere. They have kept the children engaged by providing online education and training and also counseled the parents how they should take care of their children’s physical as well as emotional health. Our teachers have also being giving one to one therapy sessions to the selected children who urgently require these therapies. Every day 4-5 children are coming with their parents for receiving one to one sessions. The therapies being given are Occupational therapy, physio and sensory integration therapy. Our experts are taking all necessary precautions for safety of the children. Our physiotherapist continues to give physiotherapy lessons on phone to those who are not required to come personally. Our “Toy Library” also continues to provide special educational toys to the children during which are replaced with new one every fortnight. It’s just to remind our donors that Sankalp provides all facilities “Free of Cost” to its children.
We also tried to lessen the negative impact by celebrating important occasions/festivals like Gandhi’s Birthday, Ganapati, Janmashtami, Navaratri and Diwali festivals and a picnic with toytrain ride and a visit to zoo in a controlled environment and by maintaining strict COVID protocol. These occasions/festivals gave much needed break to the children and they enjoyed them very much as you may note from the pics.
Since most of institutional funding to Sankalp has almost dried up since last two years, we have been able to sustain only with the support of kind hearted individuals. As mentioned in our previous report, our teachers, volunteers and some older children of Sankalp have been kept busy in making many delicately handcrafted items of utility since the lockdown started. They have put their heart and soul in making all these items. These items were put on sale for public again during Diwali festival. Everyone who saw these items appreciated them. Though we could not raise much funds from sale of these items but the children were happy to be busy in making them. Needless to say that whatever little amount we raised is of great help to us in these difficult times.
We again take this opportunity to thank YOU for your kind support to our cause during the previous year. Whatever we have been able to achieve is only due to the assistance and support we have received from YOU. We look forward to YOUR continued support. We are committed to continue doing good work in 2022 as well despite the challenges being faced. We also assure you that YOU will keep getting regular updates about what YOUR donation has helped us achieve.
Please accept greetings and good wishes from entire team Sankalp for a safe, healthy, happy and a better Year ahead.
Sincerest gratitude and Warm regards,
