Dear Kind Hearts
Greetings from team SANKALP
This is now fourth week of Aug but we in India are still not out of the second wave of the COVID-19. The schools are still closed as a precautionary measure. We hope that YOU, our well-wishers who are our strength, are safe and healthy during these unprecedented difficult times.
We all know that Covid pandemic has disrupted normal lives for almost every one everywhere. It has however, been much more severe for children with special needs. We at Sankalp have been quite proactive with our children despite the lockdown and have helped not only these children to deal with the consequences of forced restrictions but have also supported their families by giving them much needed ration kits regularly.
Nutritional Issues are very common in Special Needs Children. But in some children it can be more challenging to administer vitamins doses. That’s because children with special needs may be sensitive to taste and textures or especially resistant to trying new things. So we consulted our pediatrician who suggested Chewable Vitamin tablets. Our Managing Trustee Dr. Ronak Shah has also recommended child friendly Homeopathic medicine for them.
Therefore, in order to boost their immunity and to enable them to fight the current pandemic we are providing all children Vitamin Supplement & Homeopathic immunity booster medicine.
Parents are being called at the Centre and given vitamins n medicines for giving to their children.
In addition to the children our all staff members are also being given vitamin supplements regularly. All our staff as well as children above the age of 18 have also been fully vaccinated. Our teachers are also emphasizing to the parents about the benefits of nutrition, healthy diet & exercises.
SANKALP PROMOTES - “EAT HEALTHY = STAY HEALTHY”
As reported in our previous report the Centre is still closed as per the government advice. However, our teachers are continuously giving online special education and training to the children. Our physiotherapist also continues to give physiotherapy lessons on phone. Our “Toy Library” continues to provide special educational toys to the children during which are replaced with new one evey fortnight.
From second week of July, we have also started giving one to one therapy sessions to the children who urgently require these therapies. Every day 3-4 children are coming with their parents for receiving one to one sessions. The therapies being given are Occupational therapy, physio and sensory integration therapy. Our experts are taking all the necessary precautions for the safety of the children.
Since most of institutional funding to Sankalp has almost dried up since last 18 months, we have been able to sustain only with the generous support of kind hearted individuals. Sankalp provides all facilities “Free of Cost” to its children.
As mentioned in our March report, our teachers, volunteers and some older children of Sankalp have been busy in making many delicately handcrafted items of utility during the lockdown. They have put in their heart and soul in making all these items. These items were put on sale for public from 2nd August to 13th August. There was quite good response from people for buying these items.
Though we didn’t expect to raise large funds from the sale of these items but the idea is to spread the outreach and make more people aware of our activities and mission. Needless to say that whatever little amount we raised will be of great help to us in these difficult times.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world has seriously threatened working conditions and opportunities for current and future education. Though the situation is challenging but it has not dampened our spirit at Sankalp.
Sankalp’s teachers, therapists and entire team of staff have been very active and sincere even during this pandemic. They have kept the children engaged by providing online education and training and also counseled the parents how they should take care of their children’s physical as well as emotional health.
To appreciate their dedication and hard work and to encourage them, the management decided to give best teacher’s award from this year. Accordingly, a small award giving meeting was held on 10th July 2021 maintaining all safety precautions.
Besides the Best Teacher award, three consolation awards were also given to two other teachers and one driver for their performance. The award consists of cash amount and an Appreciation Certificate. The best teacher’s award was won by Ms. Shweta Contractor.
All other teachers, therapists and staff were also given Apperception certificates.
We again take this opportunity to thank YOU for your kind support to our cause during the previous year. Whatever we have been able to achieve is only due to the assistance and support we have received from YOU. We are committed to continue doing good work in 2021 as well despite the challenges being faced due to the pandemic. We look forward to YOUR continued support. We also assure you that YOU will keep getting regular updates about what YOUR donation has helped us achieve.
Sincerest gratitude and Warm regards,
