Dear Kind Hearts
Greetings from team SANKALP
Please accept greetings and good wishes from all of us here at Sankalp for a safe, healthy and happy New Year 2021. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have crossed through one of the most difficult year of our life. Though the pandemic is still not over, we are praying that the New Year be kinder than the one we just left behind. We believe that most of you also must have faced many challenges during the current pandemic. We want each one of you to know that we’re extremely thankful to have you on board as our meaningful partners, strong allies and sincere friends. We’re grateful to each one of you who, despite facing difficult time, has helped us come a step closer to our mission which is — to enhance the quality of lives today and accelerate solutions for tomorrow for children having developmental challenges.
No matter how busy or challenging your lives are, you’ve always come forward to help our cause. When you share your concern for our cause, you inspire us. Because of you, we have been able to enhance the quality of lives of many families from underprivileged section of the society who are bearing the burden of bringing up children having developmental challenges and are not capable to pay for their training and rehabilitation. And that's where you come in. You are the most important part of a growing and caring community.
Children being locked down within the confines of homes for since March, have gotten bored with whatever little toys they have at their homes so they do not like to play with them anymore. As most children come from economically weaker section, their parents cannot afford to buy expensive educational and training toys. They were finding it very difficult to handle their children at home.
Normal education on its own cannot foster holistic development in differently abled children. Certain kind of toys play a crucial role in improving child’s attention & concentration span, eye contact in autistic child, eye hand coordination, developing fine motor, cognitive ability, sensory and recreational skills and logical sense of the world around. These toys allow child to emotionally relate to others through imaginative play and role playing with friends. Even when children are feeling distressed, they often find comfort in their favourite toys.
Sankalp believes that every child is important and so are their dreams. We understand their dreams and make every effort to fulfill their needs so that they can achieve what they believe in. We have always believed that if we give them wings to fly, they CAN definitely soar high. That’s why at Sankalp we use different educational and training toys/games for child’s overall development. However, during this COVID pandemic the Centre is closed and our experts are providing online training to those who are suitable for it. We also call few children at regular interval at the Centre where our physiotherapist gives them necessary physiotherapy.
To address the issue, we’ve created a “Toy Bank” of different kind of toys/games. We lend necessary toys based on each child’s needs for two weeks period. Our special educators give instructions to the parents for their use. This is giving them an opportunity to play with different games. We ensure to sanitize these toys as soon as they are received and before re-issuing them to next child. This is certainly helping children who are not fit for online training due to their various conditions.
In addition we also are helping the needy parents with a ration kit regularly. Let’s share with you what one of our parents has to say about their experience with Sankalp during the pandemic:
“Respected Trustee,
My son Tapan is studying in Sankalp Centre located at Akota, which is run by Matushree Parsanba Charitable Trust. I’m a tailor by profession. There was a sudden lockdown in March 2020 due to Corona. Due to this whatever small work of tailoring that I was getting, stopped totally. My financial condition deteriorated due to this. But due to the help received from Sankalp family we continuously kept getting ration which included, Wheat, rice, lentil, sugar, salt, cooking oil, etc. The trust is doing a great job. Thanks for helping other needy families like us.
Rohit”
It has been a practice at Sankalp to celebrate all festivals every year which our children enjoy very much. This year however, due to the pandemic we could not do so at Sankalp but we decided that children must not miss out the fun. So on the Christmas day we celebrated it with a difference and with all safety measures necessary for COVID-19.
Sankalp’s Santa went door to door of our children’s house and gave gift hamper consisting of Chocolates, a bathing kit (to instill in them importance of hygiene) and a McDonald’s Happy Meal.
Nothing gives more satisfaction to us than to see a smile on faces of our kids. We also continue helping the needy parents with ration kit regularly.
As the year 2021 has begun we again take this opportunity to thank YOU for your kind support to our cause during the previous year. Whatever we have been able to achieve is only due to the assistance and support we have received from YOU. We are committed to continue doing good work in 2021 as well and look forward to YOUR continued support. We also assure you that YOU will keep getting regular updates about what YOUR donation has helped us achieve.
Sincerest gratitude and Warm regards,
