Caroline Sang is a 28-year-old mother of four living in a remote rural village where access to basic health services remains a daily struggle. Like many women in her community, Caroline walks several kilometers to the nearest health facility, only to often find that family planning services are unavailable or unaffordable. Without reliable access to contraception, she has faced closely spaced pregnancies that have taken a toll on her health, limited her ability to work, and strained her family’s already limited resources. Caroline’s story reflects the lived reality of many rural women whose choices about their own bodies are constrained by distance, poverty, and lack of information.
Despite her desire to plan her family and improve her well-being, Caroline lacks consistent access to modern family planning methods and accurate reproductive health information. Cultural stigma, transport costs, and shortages of trained providers in rural areas further compound the challenge. As a result, women like Caroline are left vulnerable to unintended pregnancies, preventable health complications, and continued cycles of poverty. These barriers not only affect individual women but also impact entire families and communities, limiting opportunities for education, economic participation, and healthier futures.
We are seeking funding to support community-based family planning outreach that brings services closer to women like Caroline, directly within their villages. Through mobile clinics, trained community health Promoters, and access to affordable modern contraceptives, this support will empower rural women to make informed choices about their reproductive health. Investing in family planning is an investment in healthier mothers, stronger families, and more resilient rural communities, ensuring that women like Caroline can plan their futures with dignity and hope.
