Reproductive Health For Rural Communities

Kalyet Afya Foundation remains committed to providing essential reproductive health services to underserved rural communities. Through the GlobalGiving online fundraising platform, 5 women received free long-term contraceptives. Each of these women comes from a household of approximately four people, meaning that at least 20 individuals have been positively impacted beyond the five direct beneficiaries. By enabling women to plan their families, we are also improving their children's and households' well-being, reducing economic strain, and promoting healthier families overall.

One of the beneficiaries, Cynthia, shared her experience:

"I am 23 years old and a single mother of one. I completed high school but couldn’t further my studies due to financial constraints. After a year of unemployment, I became pregnant, and the journey was difficult. I struggled with nutrition and transportation costs for antenatal and postnatal care. Raising my child alone has been challenging, and I knew I wasn’t ready for another pregnancy. When I heard that Kalyet Afya Foundation was offering free modern family planning services, I immediately sought help and received a three-year contraceptive implant. This has given me peace of mind and the ability to focus on securing a better future for my child and me."
