Awareness
Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra continued its education and awareness activity among local and tribal community. SNM takes various competitions in educational institute such as a drawing, writing, and power point presentation on wildlife of the region. SNM arranged workshop on the occasion of ‘World Pangolin Day’ on 16th February 2019 at Devrukh village in Sangameshwar block to outreach mass awareness. On this World Pangolin day occassion school student joined us through Rally to raise awareness in the region. In workshop community and frontline law enforcement agencies were educated and aware about plants and animals and their relation between us. The communities were also educated and aware about ecosystem services from nature such as Apiculture, NTFP collection (Non Timber Forest Product), Eco tourism – Homestay and Nature guide. Short movie and pictorial story books on Indian Pangolin in local language were released and distributed on the occasion of world pangolin day. Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra has continued meeting and interaction with local for the conservation of forest and species.
Tree Plantation
Planted tree in the region with the help of the local people were adopted by school student and local community to take care of it and increase survival rate of the plant. The native tree such as Lagerstroemia speciosa (Tamhan), Alstonia scholaris (Satvin), Ficus Ficus religiosa (Pimple), religiosa (Pimple), Memecylon umbellatun (Anjani), etc. Through such activity, local people involved in conservation and take care of the biodiversity near by them.
Presentation and Exhibition
Photo Exhibition and Presentation – Awareness through the photo exhibition and presentation were held on 18th January 2019 at Brahman Sahyak Sangh Hall Chilplun, Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra, India. To document biodiversity of the region young mind school students were involved to capture biodiversity of the region through camera trap used during jungle survey. School student had given presentation on the biodiversity what they found from camera trap in their region and the same camera trap images were used for the exhibition.
Wildlife Survey
Trap cameras were deployed in the field to study biodiversity of the region data were collected through camera trap will be documented. The data will help to better understand species ecology and conservation need of the region. The better knowledge and documented data gain through camera trap utilized to educate and to aware community.
