We thank the donors for committing towards natures conservation cause. Our special thanks to GlobalGiving for providing this platform to spread our work.
Purchase of nature
- Based on the legal adviser’s recommendations, the shortlisted place was finalized due to legal documentation of that land. Sahyadri's team has been exploring the area for suitable place.
Awareness Drives
- The awareness drives are being conducted by meeting private forest owners. Sahyadri’s team conducted meetings in 5 villages to bring private forest owners together and emphasized alternate way of income generation over harvesting.
- Sahyadri's team has also conducted training sessions in 3 villages to make private forest owners aware about options like Sterculia urens (aka Gum Karaya) for gum collection.

We thank the donors for committing towards natures conservation cause. We also thank GlobalGiving to provide this platform to spread our work.
Purchase of nature
- Sahyadri has selected 57 acres of land about 33 Km from Chiplun closer to western fringes of Sahyadri mountaings. Sahyadri has verified all the documents of this land and is initiating the purchase. Sahyadri has raised about USD 18,000.00 which was planned to raise through local donation sources.
- The selected land has jungle which is about 8-10 years old. Sahyadri has also started detailed survey of the land with the help of experts and also using trap cameras to identify wildlife.
Awareness Drives
- Sahyadri has continued meeting private forest owners and making them aware about various nature friendly options of earning income over mere harvesting the jungle.

We thank donors for their commitment towards saving nature. GlobalGiving's representatives in India visited our office to review the project progress. Such interactions help us in tracking as well as stresses importance of formal documentation of the work. We thank GlobalGiving to provide such support and platform to reach out to you.
Purchase of nature
- Sahaydri's team has continued the survey to identify places based on the set criteria. Few places have been shortlisted and the team is discussing further possibilities with the owners.
Awareness Drives
- Sahyadri's team has been meeting private forest owners closer to Western Ghats. Through these meetings Sahyadri is creating awareness among such groups to save their jungle and earn income through non-timber forest produce.
- Gum Collection - In few places where Gum Karya (Sterculia Urens) trees are preset, Sahyadri has initiated trainings for land owners to collect gum as it has a good market value. To ensure sustainability, Sahyadri has also trained owners to plant these trees.
- World Environment Day - Sahyadri hosted series of exhibitions, environment related film shows and talks involving villagers on the occasion of World Environment Day.
