Covid-19 disease pandemic across the nation due to which nation was under lockdown. Everything was shut down in lockdown due to which it was not possible to complete field visits or outreach activities.

 

  • Organic fertilizers and pesticides were delivered to the villagers.
  • Local community villagers regularly watering planted trees, removal of weeds, and regularly complete all activities for the survival of the planted trees.
  • Local community share details and monitor planted trees regular basis.

In this Covid-19 pandemic situation the nation was under lockdown due to which many conservation field activities were not possible to complete.

Biodiversity Survey

  • Two qualitative biodiversity surveys completed in Watul and Panhali village of the region.  floral and faunal biodiversity documented during the survey.
  • Pangolin scat sample collected from the field and analyzed.


Plantation drives

  • SNM is getting very good support in tree planting activities across the region.

 Alternate Livelihood

  • One wild honeybee colony capturing training session held in Tanali village.
  • Regular monitoring of homestay and ecotourism initiative driven by locals.

Community Survey
to ensure active participation of the community, questionnaire surveys have been taken in Mandangad block of Ratnagiri District. A total of 263 people participated and 109 villages covered during the survey. This survey gathered very useful data related to wildlife and human coexistence.

Biodiversity Survey

Two qualitative biodiversity surveys completed in Panhali and Choravane village of the region. Along with rare and endemic butterfly species, various endemic species of flora found during the survey.

Plantation drives

Removal of weeds, fertilizers and other supportive activities are done for better survival chances of trees planted previously. SNM is getting very good support in tree planting activities across the region.

 Alternate Livelihood

One wild honeybee colony capturing training session held in Poor village. Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra is always supportive towards sustainable livelihood practices; we are regularly monitoring homestay and ecotourism initiatives driven by locals.

Biodiversity Survey

Wetland is one of the important habitat and play vital roles in ecosystem due to which wetland biodiversity survey executed to document flora and fauna of the wetland habitat. The wetland survey identified 38 species fauna and 28 species of flora in wetland habitat.

Education and awareness

To educate and aware local community about wildlife, forest importance and wildlife protection act meeting was taken in villages such as Shrungarpur, Karjuve, Konde, Kasar kolvan, kudawale, and Panhali in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. 3224 pictorial story book ‘Secret Lives of Pangolin’in local languages were distributed in the schools across Ratnagiri district. The book introduces the entire life of Pangolin and importance in the way of storytelling such activity will help to bring young minds more closely to the nature.

Plantation drives

To ensure tree species survival SNM visits timely to take care of plants with the local community support across the region. At regular interval of time fertilizers, removal of weeds and other works were done with local community to ensure the survival of plants. SNM is also inspiring people by providing native species plants or any other type of help they need to take care of the plants.
