Dear Friends,

Greetings from Agastya!!

Hope you are doing well. Thank you so much for your support to our project "Support Media Literacy for Kids in Rural India". With your support, Agastya reaches out to rural children and introduce them to the various forms of media and equipp them to communicate in insightful and imaginative ways.

In the month of August 2015, 388 children attended the lab. Children learnt about photography and audio. History of photography, camera construction and image composition were discussed in the class. Children photographed using a digital camera and images made were discussed in the class. Sound and observation of sounds in environment was done. Children were given audio recorders to capture sound in ambience. Importance of sound in films was discussed.

In the month of September 2015, 247 children attended the lab. Concepts of storytelling and storyboarding were discussed. Children wrote stories in groups. They were shared with rest of the class and reviewed by peers. Images were created by children to depict their respective stories.

In the month of October 2015, 39 children attended the lab. Children used audio recorder to record sound and transfer them on to a computer. Children narrated stories that they created and recorded them. Instructors of the lab went through the series of capacity building workshop concentrated on photography and video film making.

Once again many thanks for joining hands with us in the journey of sparking Curiosity, nurturing Creativity and building Confidence among economically disadvantaged rural children in Kuppam, India.
