The Sprout Care Foundation adopted the sustainable livelihood approach that focuses on finding resolutions to problems of vulnerable households by creating human centred, participatory, and dynamic development opportunities.
During this reporting period the organisation concentrated on efforts that put more resources into increasing food supplies in our target communities. Poverty is challenging the sustainability of livelihood interventions. The project also emphasizes eradicating extreme poverty among the less privileged households and their families. Using the meagre resources the organisation advocated for the equitable distribution of livelihood resources by the government through participation in the stakeholders meeting to review strategies used by the government to target the rural poor not the rich. This led to a shift from the district food security to a concern with food security and nutritional status of vulnerable households and their families.
The organisation has continued to emphasize community participation in decisions that affect their livelihood wellbeing. The participation has promoted monitoring and peer learning among the project beneficiaries.
One household was supported with food this included rice, corn flour and powdered milk to increase the uptake of nutritious meals, hence enhancing a balanced diet. The organisation was not able to meet the set targets for this project due to unlimited funds, however new strategies of boosting the organisation income is already in being implemented and the livelihood project will impact lives of the vulnerable minorities in our communities.
Lastly, management of the Sprout Care Foundation wish to express our sincere appreciation to all our generous donors and all the individual that continue to subscribe to our membership as we continue to impact our own communities. We are looking forward to continuing working with you all.
