The Syrian conflict, now well into its sixth year, has given rise to a protracted humanitarian crisis often described as one of the worst since the end of the Cold War.
Since 2013, our member organization CARE International has been working inside Syria to meet the pressing needs of the most vulnerable conflict-affected populations in Northern Syria, with a focus on non-food items, food assisteance and healthcare support. Furthermore, it is expected that displaced people, especially those living in informal settlements (e.g. tents, unfinished houses, barns, basements etc.) will be particularly affected by the upcoming harsh Syrian winter. Due to that condition CARE distributed commodity vouchers. Commodity vouchers will allow beneficiaries to choose appropriate winter items, like clothes, bed sheets and mattresses. This will also contribute to stimulate the local market.
In addition to the winterization kits our member organization has distributed food baskets, hygiene kits, medicines and drugs, medical consumables and medical equipment. Most of the staff consists of Syrians who lived and worked in Syria prior to the conflict. They are familiar with the proposed project areas and have their own networks enabling ongoing and consistent access despite the complex operational environment. They have been working in the various regions and understand the dynamics of the conflict.
Thank you very much for your support of the Syrian families and individuals affected by the conflict, in and around Syria.
