Certification of 2014 group

By Isabel Pastor Guzman | Program Manager

On December 19, 2014, a new group of over 200 beneficiaries, including principals of schools, teachers, and doctors taking care of educator's health, was certified by IBREA. All of them are replicating the program. This was a prerequisite before getting certified. Two principals gave their testimony, it was so touching to hear from them how the program has changed their lives and their schools. By learning and practicing to manage their emotions and stress and to focus inside to find solutions to their problems, they are feeling more healthy, stable, and productive and creative in their context. Some of the participants have also started going outside their school and teaching other principals of schools in their communities. The replication is happening in a very natural way, because the participants experienced the changes in themsevles first, so they passionately want to share what they learned in order to benefit others.

IBREA discussed with the Ministry of Education a sustainability plan for the future. In 3 years, it is planned for the government and the Salvadorian community to take full ownership of the process of expanding brain education to all the schools in the country. This is a big step! Please keep supporting them in the process until it become sustainable. Your help is what is making it possible for them to take full responsibility afterwards, which is the ultimate goal.

The certifying event included a presenation of the research results by a local doctor from the Instituto Salvadoreño de Bienestar Magisterial (ISBM), one of the project's partners. The results show a statistically significant decrease in weight (72% of participants), body mass index (64% of participants) and blood pressure (41%). At the emotional-social level, the research results show a big decrease in accute stress, emotional fatigue, and depersonalization, and an improvement in school climate, self-efficacy and self-realization.

Everybody celebrated the results of this collective effort and commited to continue supporting the process as IBREA starts with a new group in 2015. Enjoy the pictures!

Please make an End-of-the-Year donation and gift to this meaningful project that is greatly changing the atmosphere and results in the El Salvador education system, giving new hope and strength to a population that has suffered too much for too long.

Thank you always ~
