IBREA will bring Brain Education (BE) to 180 schools in San Salvador, El Salvador. The project follows the success of a 6-month pilot experience covering 4 schools in areas characterized by high levels of violence and drug abuse, followed. Seeing the results in children's behavior, stress management, academic performance and a more peaceful culture, the Ministry of Education has decided to support the expansion of BE in the country, with the view of integrating it in the school curriculum
Children & young people in El Salvador are not only trying to be recruited by gangs but also face constant exposure to drug abuse and other circumstances that threaten to hamper their health and life motivation. Education is key for these children to create a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Yet they face many challenges to truly break past traumatic cycles and manage their exposure to risks outside the school system.
Brain Education will bring a powerful educational methodology and new tools to the schools' principals, teachers and students which will help them overcome trauma, cope with stress and upscale their capacity to learn, grow and be creative in their environment. Brain Education includes physical exercises that develop flexibility and coordination, mental exercises enhancing focus and attention and other activities that develop life motivation, emotional stability, and imagination
If these children learn to wake up their brains and unleash their creative and productive power with a view to improve the world around them, they will be able to deeply change and transform their communities, and in turn their country's future
