Happy New Year to you all!

We are very delighted for the amazing support our charity gets thanks to you and GlobalGiving!

We are happy to say that last month we received a bonus £1000 donation from the GlobalGiving End Of the Year Challenge as we have reached the required fundraising target! The £1000 bonus will be dedicated to our burn unit as in December only we attended and treated 5 children with severe burns. This is just so wonderful and it will really help us!

In December, we have given 85 units of blood transfusion and saved lives to more than 85 children who would have otherwise died! Amazing again so thank you!

However accountabilty for medicine expenditure and laboratory was £8500, but that also means that each child’s life was saved for £7,50. Unbelievable figures in all ways.. therefore we do appreciate any amount of donation towards this life-saving and so needed project! Without you, these kids would die! Please continue supporting us and spread the word!

On behalf of our beneficiaries, thank you very much

 Veronika

Dear all Whisper's Friends,

We thank you for the continuous support towards saving lives of the innocent and unfortunate children in Uganda.

Only for the month of September, we treated 158 children with malaria, 20 patients who suffered artificial or severe burns, and 248 children received blood transfusion.

Together since our last report, our doctors have attended to more than 3000 patients, who received free laboratory tests, and medical treatment at only $7.

In September, we helped 3 families with completely free treatment at our hospital and provided them with our social work services, helping them start up businesses and donating them house items and clothing. Other 8 patients were brought from the rural villages during our rescue outreach mission and provided full medical treatment free of charge.

One of the great achievement during this time was a successful plastic surgery of our little 4 year old patient Swaib who suffered severe burns on his body in on July 3rd. He has been admitted at our hospital now the 4th months where Whisper is taking care of the healing. This boy would surely die if it was not for your help.

If you like to get in touch with our organisation, you can do so via our website www.WhisperOrphans.org

Thank you for the support, it means more than you will ever know!

Dear Whisper family,

Here I am again to say BIG thank you for all your important and continuous financial donations towards the malnourished and sick children in Uganda.

Since our last report some three months ago, Whisper attended to more than three thousand children.

One of the child that Whisper received in May this year, weighing less than 2 kilos, was the 8 months old baby called Peter.

Peter was admitted for severe wasting, dehydration and anaemia.

It was hard to believe that Peter only needed so little to improve. Peter received three blood transfusions, three weeks of nutritional milk treatment, and a bit of love and care from our employees.

When baby Peter was discharged from the hospital, Peter was given very many nice clothes which was donated to Whisper by people like you.

He is one of the many children that Whisper receives every months and one of the many children who was lucky to reach our hospital.

Your little donations go far. Every penny counts, and every penny goes to help save someone's life.

Thank you again for the generous and kind heart that the today's world needs the most.

Continue supporting our great cause, and thank you once again!

Veronika

Dear friends of Whisper,

Another three months passed since our last report to you and I would like to let you know about the IMPORTANT difference you helped us made donating to this cause in the last three months.

In the last 90 days we received 3514 patients from which 763 patients we treated and reviewed for free.(all the patients who are required to pay, they only pay the minimum contribution towards their treatment & admission: $8)

Blood transfusion at Whisper

We have transfused 552 children with blood.

Here are some of the medical conditions that we dealt with:

We treated 1090 children for malaria, 124 children for sickle-cell disease, 18 children for typhoid, 2 children for meningitis and we received 15 children with severe burns.

All of those treated children survived.

All of the 552 children receiving blood transfusion, were mostly suffering from anaemia caused by malaria, sickle cell disease or severe infections and sometimes also conditions caused by serious burns that require admission on ward.

If those 552 children did not receive the blood transfusion and admission free of charge, they likely not be here today. Other private centres require only $8 for a day of admission without any treatment or food,  anaemic children need at least a minimum of 5 days of admission on ward. Many anaemic children end up in lots of body swelling and it is almost impossible to find the vein to cannulate the child, in this case very many cannulas may be wasted, in other centres patients are charged per each cannula,  in most of the cases the government hospital can only provide a few of them, although many times the parents are required to buy them.

Children treated for serious burns require at least min of 1,000,000 UGX ($360) and it depends on the scale of the body burns, most of the children we receive suffer up to 50% of body burns, where the large areas of body skin is destroyed. Children are treated with anesthesias on oxygen in our minor theatre many times during the wound cleaning, that happens every second day. Many of them also need to be transfused due to the extensive wound bleeding and other medical causes related to burns. Whisper spend on average about $1300 to successfully treat a child with body burns per child for several months (medicine, medical and nursing care and other). This is near to impossible for the 98% of the families to pay for.

Whisper has been known for a successful treatment of severe form of meningitis. Those children are admitted for several days if not weeks at the emergency ward and given the best combination of antibiotics around. Treating meningitis on an unconscious child takes a lots of experience, dedication and of course funding. Children began being paralysed or unconscious, they breath in support of the oxygen, are fed through the nasal tube and their medical treatment cost Whisper min of $10 a day only on medicine.

Again, we have to remember that most of the sickest children come from an extreme poverty. It is the poverty that causes them to get anaemic, and it is the poverty that causes their death.

We try to overcome the challenges that the world's poverty brings, by being passionate about love and humanity, being strong, dedicated and always believe in doing the right thing.

We are very proud at what Whisper achieved in the last 90 days and we are very proud that we have such people around us like you, who are contributing to our tireless work.

Although we have done some great work, it comes at the high cost of the medicine and laboratory supplies that we have to raise:

February 38,566,200 UGX ($9,323),March 22,899,500 ($6,360) and April ($9,433).

Thank you a lot for reading this report and following our work.
