Whisper thanks all its beloved donors for the support and helping in saving the many lives of the vulnerable malnourished Ugandan children. In the year 2018 we were able to save 153 lives of malnourished children. Some of these children were brought at the point of death, so wasted and couldnot move or talk whereas the others were brought in by our outreach team from deep in the villages of districts such as Entebbe, Jinja, Kamuli among others.
We spend a lot of money on fuel and facilitation so that our outreach team gets access to the locations of these suffering children. Most of the patients received had Severe Acute Malnutrition and were underweight. On assessment, the underlying causes for malnutrition cases are due to poor feeding practices for infants and parent negligence, leaving young children with relatives who cannot support themselves financially. These innocent souls survive on only one meal a day hence leading to malnutrition.
The Whisper team is about to launch the empowerment project which will help to support all the poor famillies with small scale businesses so that they can get food for thier children. The many cases of malnutrition caused by poverty will reduce. We call upon all our sponsors to support us through empowering these families.
Whisper's Hospital treated 2304 since our last report in July.
Only in October we treated 780 patients in total. We received 72 patients in our Magical Maternity and 708 patients in the children's wing. The number of patients received slightly increased by 78 patients as compared to the month of September. Many lives have been saved.
We managed to transfuse blood to 158 patients in October. The number of anemic patients reduced compared to September's 244 transfused patients. This time around there was quite enough blood supply in other hospitals which may have caused a reduction in the number of transfusion since some of the transfused patients are referred from other hospitals to Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital due to lack of enough blood.
£6446 was spent on drugs and laboratory supplies.
We registered 10 malnourished patients in the nutritional ward in the month of October. Our patients spend a minimum period of four weeks in the ward. Whisper's magical hospital is saving so many mothers' lives by ensuring and providing safe deliveries.
Mwase is one of the sick children in our nutritional ward diagnosed with severe malnutrition oedematous. He was abandoned by his mother and remained under the care of the grandmother. Whisper has been taking good care of him. He has now got better because of our nutritional feeds and care. We get so many malnourished children from deep in the villages who really need assistance and support. Dear all of our friends,
We appreciate every donation given to our hospital and towards our patients.
Only last month, we transfused 244 children with life-saving blood and as usual, we cannot say thank you enough because we cannot put a price and value on children's life.
This time we would like to ask you for help for raising funds for correction of skin grafting to a little girl called Gift, who was involved in a car accident, during which she lost both of her parents.
We created a fundraising page seeking to raise $1205 for all of her private medical bills here: https://www.globalgiving.org/microprojects/plastic-surgery-for-gift-a-victim-of-car-accident/
The story was already heartbreaking as it was, but after the accident, she was taken to the main hospital in Kampala, where she received first aid, but any other treatment required money, and her uncle, who committed him to take care of her, didn't have any anymore.
A good Samaritan and our friend Amanda found them struggling at the hospital and asked the public to help her save Gift's life, as the wound on her head was rotting.
After Gift's arrival at our hospital we found out she also suffered from untreated malaria and anemia and she needed an urgent blood transfusion. It took us about a month before Gift stabilized and was ready for a plastic surgery in order to heal her wound.
She was then taken to one of the projects in Uganda that said they could work on the skin grafting and Whisper was asked to contribute only about $60 towards it. Unfortunately after three surgeries, the doctor informed her uncle that they cannot succeed with it, and discharged her.
She was brought back to our hospital and taken for a consultation with the plastic surgeon in Kampala, who can give her life back but the bill is too high. She needs the correction of skin grafting ASAP, please help Gift and donate anything little you can. Thank you!
The link for the fundraising page is here: https://globalgiving.org/microprojects/plastic-surgery-for-gift-a-victim-of-car-accident
Know that 100% of everything you give as a donation, goes directly for Gift's treatment.
Thank you!
This has been a very busy month, we have treated 890patients.
Drugs still occupy the highest amount of money for our general expenses at the hospital.
We spent £7,579 on drugs and laboratory supplies.
In June we still treated many patients who come to us from different parts of Uganda regardless of whether they have money or not.
We always give them 1st class treatment because we aim at saving the many lives of Ugandan children so that we give them hope for a better life.
The number of burns patients has really reduced compared to the number we had last month. For the 4 patients we received in June, 2 were discharged and went home when all wounds had healed and left the hospital with smiles on their faces.
We have had quite a number of malnourished patients this month totaling to 25 patients, and this has been because of poor feeding due to the high rate of poverty since most of the malnourished children we receive are from the deep rural parts of Uganda where there are high rates of poverty. Our patients spend a minimum of 3 weeks at the hospital. And the cost of rehabilitating these children is really high. Of course, you can always donate to the malnourished vulnerable children via this wonderful fundraising platform.
The number of anemic patients has always been high especially in the eastern region of Uganda. We have managed to transfuse blood to 239 patients in the month of June. The high rate of anemia is especially due to malaria and sickle cell disease.
We thank everyone who has contributed to Whisper as a charity organisation.

Whisper's Hospital Report for February and March
Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital has been very successful in the months of February and March. We have managed to treat 896 patients in February whereas 837 patients were treated in March.
We have spent 21,425100 Uganda shillings (£4,085) on drugs, laboratory supplies and consumables in February and 19,870,300 Uganda shillings (£3,789) spent on the same items in March.
The total number of burns patients received in February is less compared to total number of patients received in March. We received only 1 burns patient in February whereas 4 patients were admitted in March.
We have had 5 malnourished patients in February and 6 in March. The nutritional deficiencies in the Eastern region of Uganda are brought about by poor feeding which is a result of poverty in the rural parts of Eastern Uganda.
We transfused blood to 132 patients in February which is more compared to the 77 patients transfused in March. This also indicates that the number of Anemic patients is high especially in the Eastern region of Uganda. This could be caused by Malaria and sickle cell disease.
The outreach team is also doing a wonderful job of reaching out to the suffering children in different communities. Besides the harsh weather and the unfavorable conditions in the field, the outreach team was able to rescue 3 children in February who were in really bad conditions and 4 in March. They were brought to the hospital for checkup and treatment.
We thank everyone who is supporting Whisper as an organisation.
