Thank you so much for your continued support of this project. We strongly believe that improving the socio-economic status of women in the developing world is key to fighting and ending global poverty. Women in the rural areas of Zimbabwe bear almost all responsibility for meeting the basic needs of the family yet they are disadvantaged economically and educationally and are systematically denied the resources, information and freedom of action they need to fulfill this responsibility. This situation has been exacerbated by HIV/AIDS which has rapidly become a woman's disease. Women living with AIDS are struggling to support their children and they cant afford the cost of receiving treatment.
Our vision is to restore dignity and hope to disadvantaged women in these rural areas and to to empower them to live up to their full potential. We firmly believe that empowering women strengthens the entire community. Families are healthier and more children attend school.
We are pleased to announce that the "Chicken Project" is a big sucess. The lives of the six women who are participating in this project have been transformed. We are very pleased to have Mrs Chikoo managing this project for us. We attribute the success of this project to her dedication and hard work in overseeing the project. One of the biggest lessons we have learned is that inorder for these projects to be successfull it is very important to have the right person managing the projects. The project manager needs to be a respected member of the community who is passionate about projects that empower women. Mrs Chikoo has all these qualities and we are honored to have her manage this project for us.
The women ordered their next batch of chickens. I will post a progress report in 3 weeks. You will be able to see the pictures of the chickens.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for supporting this project. Together we are transforming the lives of these women and putting them in a better position to help their families. We couldnt have done this without your help!
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for your continued support of this project. This project is our strategy for improving the socio-economic status of disadvantaged rural women. Even though we provide food and clothing to poor women, our long term goal is to introduce income generating projects that lift them out of poverty. This holistic approach ensures that disadvantaged rural women and their children have enough food to eat and looks out for their long term economic propspects.
Here is what we accomplished this year —thanks to your help!.
The Chicken project is in full swing. Six women are participating in the project. We are pleased to announce that the women successfully raised and sold 100 chickens. They are getting ready to buy more chicks. This time they will buy egg laying chickens as well. Here is what the women had to say:
"We would like to thank our donors for supporting us. We really like the project. We have learned a lot about raising chickens. The lessons we learned will help us going forward. Thanks again for helping us!"
As you can see from the attached pictures this project is a big success. Through your donations you are playing a major role in tranforming the lives of disadvantaged rural women! May you have a very happy and prosperous 2015
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for your continued support of this project. This project is at the heart of the Tekeshe Foundation and is our strategy for improving the socio-economic status of women in these rural areas.
Women are the foundation of every society. Yet many women in the rural areas are disadvantaged educationally and economically. The focus of our economic empowerment program is to empower women to start income generating projects that will help them earn money and enable them to take care of their families. In keeping with this focus we launched a chicken project. The Chicken project is in full swing. Six women are participating in the project. They work collectively on the project. In about six weeks they will start selling chickens. With the money they receive from selling the chickens they will be able to support their children and grand children.
This is what we have accomplished in Phase II of this project
Phase II Of The Project
Mrs Chikoo was selected to manage the project.
Selection of a secretary for the project (the lady in the pictures holding a piece of the paper is the secretary)
Materials for the project have been purchased as you can see from the pictures. The $350 from your donations will be used as follows:
$50.00 - repair the chicken coupe
$300 - 5 50 kg bags of chicken feed, 100 chicks (delivered on September 5)
As you can see from the pictures the women are excited about this project. They are touched by the love and kindness you have shown them. They are very grateful and they are dedicated to the success of this project. Here is what they had to say:
In their Own Words
"Thank you so much for your kindness. We have always wanted to start a chicken project but we couldnt afford it. We were raising a few native chickens which take a long time to grow. The chicken feed will make the chicks grow fast. We are very grateful and honored to be chosen for this project. There are so many women in this village in the same predicament as us. We feel humbled to be the ones selected to participate in this project. May God bless you in all you do. Thanks again. "
As you can see from the pictures you are playing a major role in bringing hope to disadvantaged women. May God bless you for bringing a smile on the faces of these women.
