Help Rural Women Start Income Generating Projects

Dear Friends,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for your continued support of this project. This project is at the heart of the Tekeshe Foundation and is our strategy for improving the socio-economic status of women in these rural areas.

Women are the foundation of every society. Yet many women in the rural areas are disadvantaged educationally and economically. The focus of our economic empowerment program is to empower women to start income generating projects that will help them earn money and enable them to take care of their families. In keeping with this focus we launched a chicken project.  The Chicken project is in full swing. Six women are participating in the project. They work collectively on the project. In about six weeks they will start selling chickens.  With the money they receive from selling the chickens they will be able to support their children and grand children.

This is what we have accomplished in Phase II of this project

Phase II Of The Project

1. Mrs Chikoo was selected to manage the project.
2. Selection of a secretary for the project (the lady in the pictures holding a piece of the paper is the secretary)
3. Materials for the project have been purchased as you can see from the pictures. The $350 from your donations will be used as follows:

• $50.00  -  repair the chicken coupe
• $300 - 5 50 kg bags of chicken feed, 100 chicks (delivered on September 5)

As you can see from the pictures the women are excited about this project.  They are touched by the love and kindness you have shown them.  They are very grateful and they are dedicated to the success of this project. Here is what they had to say:

"Thank you so much for your kindness. We have always wanted to start a chicken project but we couldnt afford it. We were raising a few native chickens which take a long time to grow. The chicken feed will make the chicks grow fast. We are very grateful and honored to be chosen for this project. There are so many women in this village in the same predicament as us. We feel humbled to be the ones selected to participate in this project. May God bless you in all you do. Thanks again. "
