Hunger Should Never Be the Price of Conflict

By Jackson Ameh | Project Leader

Conflict has taken away almost everything from thousands of families in Benue State.

It has taken their homes.

It has taken their farms.

It has taken their livelihoods.

But it should never take away a child's chance to eat.

Every week, GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives meets mothers who skip meals so their children can have the little food available. We meet fathers who once proudly harvested crops but now depend on humanitarian assistance after fleeing violent attacks. We meet children who dream not of toys or celebrations, but simply of having enough food for the day.

This is the heartbreaking reality facing thousands of displaced families living in IDP camps across Makurdi.

The humanitarian crisis in Nigeria continues to deepen. The United Nations projects that nearly 35 million people will experience acute food insecurity during the 2026 lean season, making this one of the country's most severe hunger crises in recent history. Conflict and displacement remain among the leading drivers of this emergency.

Since December 2025, GoGreen has remained committed to ensuring that vulnerable families are not forgotten. With every donation received, we have been able to provide emergency food, essential household supplies, hygiene materials, and hope to families struggling to survive.

But many more families are still waiting.

Your gift today is more than a donation.

It is a warm meal for a hungry child.

It is dignity for a displaced mother.

It is hope for a family that has lost almost everything.

Together, we can remind these families that compassion is stronger than conflict.

Thank you for standing with the people of Benue State during their greatest time of need.
