Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria

The sound of violence may stop, but for families forced from their homes, the struggle can continue long afterward.

There are meals to find. Children to care for. Livelihoods to rebuild. Memories of loved ones lost. And the difficult question of how to begin again when so much has changed.

This is the reality confronting families in Otukpo-Nobi community in Benue State, Nigeria, following a violent attack that resulted in deaths and displacement.

Recently, GoGreen visited the community carrying something simple but urgently needed: food and a message of solidarity.

With support from donors through GlobalGiving, we provided 25 households with a 25kg bag of rice each, reaching approximately 125 people. We know that one bag of rice cannot rebuild a home or restore everything a family has lost.

But for a household facing uncertainty, it can mean food on the table today. It can mean one immediate burden lifted. And it can remind a family that somewhere, someone they may never meet chose to care about what happens to them.

That someone is you.

Our challenge now is to reach more families. Every contribution to the Feed Displaced Families in Benue Project gives us greater capacity to extend practical assistance to people struggling with the consequences of conflict.

The violence may have taken much from these families.

Together, we can help ensure that hope is not one of those things.

Behind the headlines about conflict are families. A mother wondering what she will feed her children. A father whose livelihood has suddenly disappeared. Children trying to understand why they can no longer live the life they knew. And communities trying to rebuild after violence.

This is the reality facing many conflict-affected families in Benue State.

Our recent visit to Otukpo-Nobi community brought that reality close to us. Following a violent attack that resulted in deaths and displacement, families were left dealing with both emotional loss and immediate livelihood needs.

With the generosity of donors through GlobalGiving, GoGreen was able to respond. We distributed 25kg bags of rice to 25 vulnerable households, reaching approximately 125 people. We are grateful that we could help.

But we also left knowing that there are more families than our current resources can reach. That is why this project must continue.
