Feed Displaced Families in Benue, Nigeria

Something meaningful happened in Otukpo-Nobi. Because people chose to give, 25 conflict-affected households received food assistance when they needed it most.

On September 23, GoGreen distributed a 25kg bag of rice to each of 25 vulnerable households, reaching approximately 125 people whose community had recently experienced violence and displacement.

Behind these numbers are real people. Parents trying to keep their families together. Children whose daily lives have been disrupted. Families mourning what they have lost while trying to find the courage and resources to begin again.

But our visit also reminded us of how much remains to be done. For every household we can support, there are other vulnerable families hoping that help will reach them too.

So we are setting our sights on the next distribution.

On the International Day of Peace, we asked ourselves a simple question: What does peace mean to a family that has been displaced by conflict?

For families affected by violence in rural Benue, peace is not only about ending attacks. It is also about being able to return home, feed their children, restore their livelihoods, live alongside their neighbours without fear, and rebuild their lives with dignity.

That is why GoGreen chose to commemorate the 2026 International Day of Peace by standing with conflict-affected families in Otukpo-Nobi community, Benue State.

Thanks to donations received through GlobalGiving, we distributed 25kg bags of rice to 25 vulnerable households, supporting approximately 125 people.

The intervention was modest compared with the scale of need, but its message was powerful:

Peace requires solidarity. Peace requires compassion. Peace requires us to stand with people living with the consequences of conflict.

The families expressed their appreciation for the support. Community traditional leadership also welcomed the initiative and the solidarity shown to affected households.

Yet many more families remain beyond the reach of our current resources. This is where you can make a difference.
