ENGLISH VERSION
The year 2020 we started it off on the right foot. We expanded our program to reach 100 beneficiaries, also growing in the number of allies.
In February we started the application process, in which 560 youngsters from Medellín and Envigado applied to secure a place in this new version of the program. After an arduous process that included questionnaires, psycho-technical tests, and personal interviews, we were able to select the 100 youngsters who this year joined the Jóvenes CreaTIvos community.
The COVID-19 health contingency shook us up in March, forcing us to evaluate alternatives to guarantee the continuity of the program. And in the same month, we launched a crash plan to turn a program designed to be 100% face-to-face and virtualize it in record time. We have undoubtedly reinvented ourselves to continue to fulfill our promise to empower young people for work.
On April 18, 2020, the inauguration was held with a welcome session for each group in which the new training system was introduced, and the instructors of the first two modules: Essential Skills and Entrepreneurship were presented.

The first evaluation survey was carried out at the end of Essential Skills, (rating from 1 to 5, with 1 being very bad and 5 being very good) in general, the evaluation of the program is 4.90. This is an evaluation that fills us with satisfaction but also sheds light on aspects to improve that we will take into account for the following modules.
In May, the beneficiaries received the Study Kit that contained a backpack, program shirt, cap, agenda, and USB memory. In parallel, the support material for the entrepreneurship workshop (folder and printed sheets) was delivered.
As stipulated within our curriculum, this program also has pedagogical outings that seek to lead beneficiaries to have a meeting with companies and entities that work in the technology environment. Given the state of quarantine, we plan to take these exits to a virtual format so that the youngsters do not miss out on anything the program promised to them. Thus, on May 23, the first virtual pedagogical outing was held, which was led by Sofka Technologies.
Assistance and Connectivity
Throughout this last month, we have had an excellent level of completion of courses (98%), attendance at interactive sessions (94%), and minimal cases of connectivity problems (1 or 2 per group). The interactive sessions that are the most demanding in terms of connectivity are always recorded, and those who cannot connect or miss a session, can see the recorded session and do a supplementary activity so as not to count as an absence.
Today we are closing an important chapter to start the core of Jóvenes creaTIvos: the training in software development. In the coming weeks, the beneficiaries will begin to study the introductory topic of programming: algorithms, logic, among others. And later they will start training aimed at topics such as back end, front end, test automation, etc.
We are very excited about the journey, the performance of the youngsters, and the promising future of our program, which today, in a virtual format, has the potential to reach many more young people in remote areas of our country.

El año 2020 lo arrancamos con el pie derecho. Expandimos nuestro programa Jóvenes creaTIvos para llegar a 100 beneficiarios, creciendo igualmente en nuestros aliados.
En febrero dimos inicio a la convocatoria en la que 560 jóvenes de Medellín y Envigado aplicaron para lograr un cupo en esta nueva versión del programa. Luego de un proceso arduo que incluyó cuestionarios, pruebas psicotécnicas, y entrevistas personales, logramos seleccionar a los 100 jóvenes que este año se integraron a la comunidad Jóvenes creaTIvos.
La contingencia sanitaria nos sacudió en marzo, poniéndonos a evaluar de manera súbita alternativas para garantizar la continuidad del programa. Y en este mismo mes pusimos en marcha un plan de choque para dar un giro a un programa concebido 100% presencial y virtualizarlo en tiempo récord. Indiscutiblemente nos hemos reinventado para seguir cumpliendo nuestra promesa de empoderar a jóvenes para el trabajo.
El 18 de Abril de 2020 se llevó a cabo la inauguración con una sesión de bienvenida para cada grupo en la que se introdujo el nuevo sistema de formación que se utilizaría, y se presentaron los instructores de los primeros dos módulos: Habilidades Esenciales y Emprendimiento.

La primera encuesta de evaluación se realizó finalizando Habilidades Esenciales, (calificación de 1 a 5, siendo 1 muy malo y 5 muy bueno) en general la evaluación del programa es de 4,90. Esta es una evaluación que nos llena de satisfacción, pero que también nos da luces sobre aspectos a mejorar que tendremos en cuenta para los módulos siguientes.
Los jóvenes beneficiarios recibieron el Kit de Estudio que contenía mochila, camiseta del programa, gorra, agenda y memoria USB. En paralelo, se realizó la entrega del material de apoyo para el taller de emprendimiento (carpeta y hojas impresas).
Como está estipulado dentro de nuestro currículum, este programa también cuenta con salidas pedagógicas que buscan llevar a los beneficiarios a tener un encuentro con empresas y entidades que trabajan en el entorno de la tecnología. Ante el estado de cuarentena pensamos en llevar estas salidas a un formato virtual de tal forma que los jóvenes no se pierdan de nada de lo que el programa prometía para ellos. Es así como el 23 de Mayo se llevó a cabo la primera salida pedagógica virtual la cual estuvo a cargo de Sofka Technologies.
Asistencia y Conectividad
A lo largo de este último mes hemos tenido un excelente nivel de culminación de cursos (98%), asistencia a sesiones interactivas (94%) y casos mínimos de problemas de conectividad, (1 o 2 por grupo). Las sesiones interactivas que son las más exigentes en nivel de conectividad son siempre grabadas, y quienes no pueden conectarse o pierden alguna sesión, pueden ver la sesión grabada y hacer una actividad supletoria para no contar como ausencia.
Hoy por hoy estamos cerrando un capítulo importante para dar inicio al corazón de Jóvenes creaTIvos: la formación en desarrollo de software. En las próximas semanas los beneficiarios empezarán a estudiar el tema introductorio de programación: algoritmos, lógica, entre otros. Y posteriormente iniciarán ya la formación dirigida a temas cono back end, front end, automatización de pruebas,
Estamos muy emocionados del camino recorrido, del desempeño de los jóvenes y del promisorio futuro que tiene nuestro programa que hoy ya en formato virtual tiene el potencial para llegar a muchos más jóvenes en zonas remotas de nuestro país.
ENGLISH VERSION
We are glad to announce that we have already established our programs for youth in Medellin. This year we will work with 100 students from grade 10 and 11 from public schools of the most vulnerable communities of Medellin and Envigado.
This first quarter we have started the application process, to select the 100 youngsters that will begin the Jóvenes creaTIvos program in 2020.
This program allows us to train them for work in three areas:
essential skills - topics such as leadership, teamwork, conflict resolution, and communication.
Entrepreneurial skills- ideation, validation and expansion of their business idea.
And training in software development, preparing them for the fourth industrial revolution, as programmers.
The program includes:
· Training in all three topics
· Study kit
· Pedagogical visits
· Transportation to and from the workshops
· Quick meal in every session
· Participation certificate
With this program these young men and women acquire experience and knowledge, projecting a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.
At the same time, they broaden their opportunities of studying a formal career in Information Technology, satisfying the needs of a market that requires qualified human talent.
We foresee to review all applications and select the beneficiaries between February and March, and formally inaugurate the 4 programs before April begins.

¡Estamos oficialmente en Medellín y Medellín está apostando por nosotros!
Nos complace anunciar que ya hemos concretado nuestros programas para jóvenes en Medellín. Este año trabajaremos con 100 estudiantes de los grados 10 y 11 de las instituciones educativas oficiales de las comunidades más vulnerables de Medellín y Envigado.
Este primer trimestre hemos comenzado el proceso de convocatoria para seleccionar a los 100 jóvenes que comenzarán el programa Jóvenes creaTIvos en 2020.
Este programa nos permite capacitarlos para trabajar en tres áreas:
Habilidades esenciales: temas como liderazgo, trabajo en equipo, resolución de conflictos y comunicación.
Habilidades empresariales: ideación, validación y expansión de su idea de negocio.
Y capacitación en desarrollo de software, preparándolos para la cuarta revolución industrial, como programadores.
El programa incluye:
· Capacitación en los tres temas.
· Kit de estudio
· Visitas pedagógicas
· Transporte desde y hacia los talleres.
· Comida rápida en cada sesión
· Certificado de participación
Con este programa, los jóvenes adquieren experiencia y conocimiento, proyectando un futuro mejor para ellos, sus familias y sus comunidades.
Al mismo tiempo, amplían sus oportunidades de estudiar una carrera formal en Tecnología de la Información, satisfaciendo las necesidades de un mercado que requiere mano de obra calificada.
Prevemos revisar todas las solicitudes y seleccionar a los beneficiarios entre febrero y marzo, e inaugurar formalmente los 4 programas antes de que comience abril.

Our project in Bolívar has concluded and we will continue the empowerment of youngsters through the training programs in technology in other cities in Colombia.
During 2019, in parallel to our program in Bolívar, we conducted a pilot program in software programming with young people from vulnerable communities in alliance with the Secretary of Education of Medellin and Sofka Technologies. This program has been successful and our goal in 2020 is to replicate it under the framework of our great project of Empowering 100 youngsters for work in Colombia.
Medellín is the fundamental axis of the fourth industrial revolution in Latin America. It has within its city plan the goal to 2021 to train 19,000 human talents in information technology. That is why we have planned to link youngsters from official schools in Medellín, coming from the most depressed communes, to this ambitious city plan and at the same time offer them opportunities for employment in a sector that so much demands it.
Each program consists of 25 scholarships that include:
- Programming training
- Transportation to and from training sessions
- One feeding during each session
- Study kit
- Pedagogical field trips
We have decided to continue with the expansion of the Empowering 100 youngsters program for work in Colombia, and bet on the realization of 4 programs in 2020 focusing their training in technology.

¡Nos vamos a Medellín!
Nuestro proyecto en Bolívar ha concluido y vamos a darle continuidad al empoderamiento de jóvenes a través de su formación en tecnología en otras ciudades de Colombia.
Durante 2019, de manera paralela a nuestro programa en Bolívar, realizamos un piloto de formación en programación de software con jóvenes de comunidades vulnerables en Medellín en alianza con la Secretaría de Educación y Sofka Technologies. Este programa ha sido exitoso y nuestro objetivo en 2020 es replicarlo bajo el marco de nuestro gran proyecto de Empoderando a 100 jóvenes para el trabajo en Colombia.
Medellín es eje fundamental de la cuarta revolución industrial en América Latina. Tiene dentro de su plan de ciudad la meta al 2021 de formar 19,000 talentos humanos en tecnologías de información. Es por eso que hemos proyectado vincular a los jóvenes de colegios oficiales de Medellín, provenientes de las comunas mas deprimidas, a este gran plan y al mismo tiempo ofrecerles posibilidades de vinculación laboral en un sector que tanto lo demanda.
Cada programa consiste en 25 becas que incluyen:
- Formación en programación
- Transporte desde y hacia las sesiones formativas
- Una alimentación durante cada sesión
- Kit de estudio
- Visitas pedagógicas
Hemos decidido continuar con la expansión del programa Empoderando a 100 Jóvenes para el trabajo en Colombia, y apostarle a la realización de 4 programas en el 2020 enfocando su formación en tecnología.

¡Our program in Bolívar takes a new turn!
Our intervention for the youngsters in Bolívar has begun a new path, as we make progress in phase 2 of Adebrecho project. The boys have begun producing bread and baked goods for internal consumption and have even started making small sales to staff members and family members during visitation. We have gradually begun the productive phase of this ambitious project.
What´s coming up for Adebrecho? We want to participate in the remodeling of the bakery facilities which includes repairing walls, ceilings, and fixing existing equipment as well as purchasing new ones. We are confirming our alliance with a potential partner in order to start a sustainable production model for institutional sales.
Continuation of productive workshops. Many of the beneficiaries of the first training program are no longer in the center. They have finished their formative process and have continued with their life in freedom. So now it´s time to start the programs for a new promotion. 25 new youngsters that will be learning crafts.
With these programs, the youngsters will be making items that will be sold to the public, so they can start supporting the needs of their families while still being interns in the penal responsibility centers.
We have already finished the introduction process for the workshops, and the training to make bead bracelets that will soon be up for sale.
This is our commitment to youth offenders, to make sure they foresee a different future in which they can make a dignified living.

VERSION EN ESPAÑOL
¡Nuestro programa en Bolívar toma un giro!
Nuestra intervención con los jóvenes de Bolívar ha iniciado un nuevo camino, a medida que progresamos en la fase 2 del Proyecto Adebrecho. Los muchachos han empezado a elaborar productos de panadería para el consumo interno y han empezado a vender una parte al staff del centro y a los familiares durante las visitas. Gradualmente hemos iniciado la fase productiva de este ambicioso proyecto.
¿Qué viene para Adebrecho? Queremos participar en la readecuación de las instalaciones del taller de panadería lo cual incluye adecuación de paredes, techos, reparación de equipos existentes al igual que reposición de equipos por unos nuevos. Estamos trabajando en la alianza con un socio potencial para poder adelantar este trabajo y dar inicio a un modelo de producción sostenible para ventas institucionales.
Continuación de los talleres productivos. Muchos de los beneficiarios del primer programa de formación ya han salido del centro. Han culminado su proceso formativo y han dado continuidad a su vida en libertad. Es hora de dar inicio a nuevos programas y a una nueva promoción. 25 jóvenes estarán aprendiendo nuevas técnicas para artesanías.
En estos programas, los jóvenes estarán elaborando artículos que se ofrecerán para venta al público, de esta forma pueden aportar al sostenimiento de sus familias aun estando internos en el centro de responsabilidad penal.
Ya hemos finalizado el proceso de inducción a estos talleres y el entrenamiento en elaboración de brazaletes en mostacilla que pronto estarán a la venta.
Este es nuestro compromiso con los jóvenes infractores, asegurar que puedan proyectar un futuro diferente en el que puedan subsistir con dignidad.
Los invitamos a estar alerta, y una vez inicien las ventas participen a sus amigos y seres queridos para que apoyen esta causa.

ENGLISH VERSION
This quarter we have worked with many expectations. We have held three workshops with the youngsters focused on resilience, adaptation to change, and life testimonies. These workshops were held as a support measure, preparing them for a significant change to help them receive the new operator who is now in charge of their care. This change was made official in April 2019, and only until it was carried out was it formally announced to the boys in the care center. They showed a high degree of prevention and showed resistance.
This change involved suspending activities with young people between March and May. This month the activities are renewed and we are working with a new ally in two points:
1. Evaluation of the bakery workshop, equipment, and facilities. An assessment will be made to quantify the investment necessary to adapt the workshop to start internal production.
2. Budgeting to start the second training program. The investment needed to carry out the second training program for another 25 youngsters in Bolívar will be quantified.
We enclose some photos of our meetings this quarter, and a video of the testimonies made in February. We will keep you updated on developments during our next visit in May.

¡Nuestro programa en Bolívar entra en una nueva y emocionante fase!
Este trimestre hemos trabajado con muchas expectativas. Hemos realizado tres talleres con los jóvenes enfocados en resiliencia, adaptación al cambio, y testimonios de vida. Estos talleres se realizaron como medida de apoyo, alistando a los jóvenes para un cambio significativo y abrirse a recibir al nuevo operador que está a cargo de su cuidado. Este cambio se oficializó en Abril de 2019, y sólo hasta que se llevó a cabo fue anunciado de manera formal a los jóvenes del centro de atención. Los jóvenes presentaron un alto grado de prevención y mostraron resistencia
Este cambio implicó suspender las actividades con los jóvenes entre marzo y mayo. Este mes se renuevan las actividades y nos encontramos trabajando con un nuevo aliado en dos puntos:
